- As a part of our global operations team and under general supervision, this role will be carrying out broad assignments involving the sourcing of important items, requiring extensive or specialized knowledge or experience.
- Works with the site Operations team to ensure that sourcing strategies are aligned with site requirements.
- Develops both current and future sources of supply in support of the overall supply chain strategy.
- Negotiates contracts where losses are occurring through errors in judgment would involve a large dollar amount.
- May provide work leadership and train team members.
- This role is instrumental in sourcing sophisticated direct materials (e.g., die castings, injection moldings, metal fabrications, PCBAs, electronic components) with suppliers that are capable of meeting the service, quality, NPI and cost requirements.
- Identify categories for strategic sourcing agreements and conducts cost/price analysis for all products under their jurisdiction with emphasis on high dollar and sole source situations.
- Establish negotiation strategies. Work to find opportunities for cost reductions to support annual cost reduction objectives.
- Ensure that all sourcing is based on negotiated competitive bids when submitted by qualified suppliers and in alignment with Should Cost targets (where available).
- Maintain positive working relationship with supplier base and own the regularly scheduled Business Reviews with suppliers.
- Continue to analyze and assess the adequacy of our supplier base for each category and to develop additional supply sources when deemed useful.
- Identify approved spending levels by referring to the Company's "Schedule of Authority " as needed.
- Some travel will be required with this role.
- Completed Bachelor's degree with over 2 years of proven procurement experience OR a completed Associates degree/MCIPS with 5 years of procurement experience OR a high school diploma with 7 years of procurement experience
- Experience handling materials for manufacturing operations (Must have experience sourcing for a manufacturing company)
- Experience in purchasing technical commodities requiring close collaboration with engineering
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and cost/price analysis techniques
- Has experience of at least 3 major procurement categories/commodities for example Polymers /Metals /Packaging or similar
- Completed or actively pursuing a certification in the procurement area (like C.P.M. or CPIM).
- ERP Experience (SAP preferred)
- Wire/Cable Industry experience highly desired
