The Advanced Manufacturing Automation Leader will work on the forefront to identify and deliver best-in-class automation solutions and standards to propel our global manufacturing capabilities and help achieve our goals in global stewardship.

You will build next-generation capability in our manufacturing organizations through the identification of scalable automation solutions for improving operational efficiency, sustainability and safety. You will work closely with business units and other stakeholders to develop the global automation strategy and roadmap. Our company has big sustainability goals and this role will have big impact to help us reach those goals. You will evaluate and select leading-edge automation technology and drive global standards and advanced skills now and in the future. There is preference for this role to be filled in Davidson, NC or Minneapolis, MN - but we may consider remote in the United States, Ireland or China. Technical
  • Develop multi-year, strategic roadmaps in partnership with the global business units
  • Determine standards for mechatronics and control systems for use in manufacturing, including industrial fixed and mobile robots, translating stages, linear motors, sensors, servos, etc
  • Integrate solutions with other industrial technologies, including IoT and shop management systems
  • Design process flows using six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques
  • Lead the assessment of internal process capabilities, including evaluation of current technology stacks
  • Identify external suppliers and partners to define and develop potential solutions
  • Responsible for proof of concept experiments to down select and validate final solutions
  • Create and implement internal automation standards for use in our global operations
  • Actively support the businesses in the successful deployment of applications
  • Assess automation designs to determine potential risks, failure modes, and corrective actions

  • Support compliance of proposed solutions to Company safety and IT standards
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to present results based on strong evidence to audiences of a wide range of technical abilities

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar is required.
  • 5+ Years of experience in leading applied manufacturing technology deployment in a global setting
  • Professional Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt certification is preferred.

Key Competencies:
  • Deep understanding of mechatronics, manufacturing processes (machining and assembly), applied control theory and related information technology (IoT, I4.0, MES and MOM sub-systems)
  • Ability to analyze and operate complex mechatronic systems for customization, test and qualification
  • Deep knowledge of key vendors and products in the robotics, controls and related factory I4.0 markets
  • Strong skills in proof-of-concept development and design of experiments
  • Strong understanding of data analytics (e.g. AI, Cognitive Analytics, Machine Learning)
  • Applied understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques
  • Project management acumen
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and to make practical recommendations
  • Strategic thinking, thought leadership and strong results-orientation
  • Self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently with minimal guidance
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interpret financial reports
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of geographical regions and cultures across the globe
  • Able to work safely in an industrial machinery environment
  • Overnight travel is required, some globally. Expected travel requirements average 20%

This role has been designated as Hybrid - Flex for your day. While most work must be done on-site, there is flexibility to work remotely when workflow and priorities allow.
