Hourly Rate: $72 W2; $83 CTC/1099 Job Description: The NC Department of Health and Human Services seeks a contract resource to act in the role of Disaster Recover Planner. This role will develop, maintain, and implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies and solutions, including risk assessment, business impact analysis, strategy selection, and documentation of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures for NC FAST in coordination with the various stakeholders. This position will plan, conduct, and debrief regular mock-disaster exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, as well as update procedures and plans regularly. This role will also act as a coordinator for continuity efforts after a disruption event. Duties include developing and maintaining an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan to ensure timely and effective restoration of IT services and business resumption in the event of a disaster and managing the execution and completion of all BC and DR test activities to identify recommendations to improve process, plans, and procedures. Duties also include analyzing impact on, and risk to, essential business functions or information systems to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements, ensuring that the IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Plan supports the respective application/business recovery plans by performing business impact analyses and establishing Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), and assisting in developing written policy governing Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery and Risk Management. This role will provide input on defining evaluation criteria and questionnaires for assessment teams to determine a system or application's current native recoverability and availability capabilities, provide input on the selection of an Enterprise BCDR solution(s) which meets cost and schedule constraints and satisfies recoverability, availability, and business continuity targets, and develop and execute runbooks and functional validation workbooks for performing site-to-site failover, workload redistribution, recovery, and fail-back. Other tasks include testing documented disaster recovery strategies and plans, conducting contingency planning including identifying potential business interruptions, developing safeguards against disruptions, and implementing recovery procedures that includes consideration for cloud delivered applications and services. This position will maintain close partnership with business unit management, external business partners, and key IT staff for all BC and DR planning, testing, and execution and provide input on the development of implementation, user guides, and training materials and policies and standard operating procedures. This role will identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption and other risks caused by business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives and is expected to keep abreast of latest BC and DR trends, best practices, and technologies. Required Skills:

  • Experience developing and maintaining an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan. (8 years)
  • CBCP Certification (8 years)
  • Demonstrated experience and solid background in IT environment, operations, and technology. (8 years)
  • Demonstrated experience Implementing BCDR. (8 years)
  • Experience and proficiency in Datacenter and Cloud technologies. (8 years)
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. (5 years)
