Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for an Advanced Systems Engineer with a Mechanical Testing Background to work from their McLeansville NC facility.

Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
  • Performs system and sub-system test planning, test procedure generation, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements under supervision of the lead systems engineer.
  • Document test results / generate test reports on verified equipment.
  • Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
  • Support system modeling/MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) efforts using SysML.
  • Independently determines proposed approach to solutions
  • Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
  • Plans and executes project tasks for activities described above
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
  • Performs technical planning, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for subsystems and system elements
  • Travel may be required
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • May provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
  • Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department and with project teams across the company
  • Keeps abreast of technology trends

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Foundational knowledge and Education in Mechanical Engineering design
  • Expert Proficiency of Systems Engineering concepts, principles, and theories, specifically on verification and validation
  • Proficiency in System Engineering Test (planning and procedures) of large scale Mechanical Equipment (winches/drums)
  • Proficiency with requirements management tools (DOORS)
  • Proficiency with MBSE using SysML a huge plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and effectively handle complex assignments
  • Ability in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions to the applicable audience
  • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BS Mechanical (or Systems with Mechanical focus) Engineering (required)
  • MS Systems Engineering (preferred)
  • Prior Systems Engineering Role (required)
