Position Summary

The Automation Technician is responsible for supporting the Automation Engineer with troubleshooting, installation and commissioning of process, materials handling and utilities software and electrical controls for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

Major Responsibilities

  • Modify user accounts as needed for all Manufacturing Equipment equipped with HMI or SCADA per current SOP.
  • Support Automation Engineer in vetting new technology in lab environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs using at least one of the software packages listed below:

    • Rockwell - RSlogix 500/5000
    • Siemens - Step 7 Microwin
    • Mitsubishi - GX Works2
  • Experience troubleshooting OIP using at least one of the software packages listed below:

    • FactoryTalk View Machine Edition
    • Kinco HMIsoftware
    • Elipse E3 HMIsoftware
    • iFix SCADA software
  • Troubleshooting and Change-Over of vision systems.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing as it relates to automation and controls.
  • Troubleshoot with the Maintenance staff to resolve automation and controls issues that arise in the operation as needed.
  • Work with the various disciplines at the site to coordinate execution of automation validation, commissioning, and turnover of automation projects.
  • Assist Automation Engineer change control processes.
  • Assist Automation Engineer with root cause analysis activities for automation and controls related incidents.
  • Verify that work instructions and other paperwork are properly in place.
  • Understands and follows the site's EHS policy.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete all required training with in due dates.
  • Ability to cope with rapidly changing priorities based on current business needs.

Qualifications

  • AS or AT Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology (2 year) required
  • 3-5 years' experience in similar technical role
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of mechanical and controls components
  • Must focus on safety followed by quality
  • Must be self-driven, and flexible and willing to work the necessary overtime required to meet goals including after-hours call in.
  • Electrical and programming troubleshooting experience
