Position Summary

Automation Technician is responsible for supporting Sr. Automation Engineer with troubleshooting, installation and commissioning of process, materials handling and utilities software and electrical controls for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

Major Responsibilities

  • Modify user accounts as needed for all Manufacturing Equipment that are equipped with HMI or SCADA per current SOP.
  • Support Sr. Automation Engineer in vetting new technology in lab environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs using at least one of the software packages listed below:
  • Rockwell - RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000
  • Siemens - Step 7 MicroWin/WinCC or TIAPortal
  • Mitsubishi - GX Works2
  • Experience troubleshooting OIP using at least one of the software packages listed below:
  • FactoryTalkView Machine Edition
  • Kinco HMI software
  • Elipse E3 HMI software
  • iFix SCADA software
  • Troubleshooting and change-over of vision systems.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as it relates to automation and controls.
  • Troubleshoot with the Maintenance staff to resolve automation and controls issues that arise in the Operations as needed.
  • Work with the various disciplines at the site to coordinate execution of automation validation, commissioning, and turnover of automation projects.
  • Assist Sr. Automation Engineer with change control processes and root cause analysis activities for automation and controls related incidents.
  • Verify that work instructions and other paperwork are properly in place.
  • Understands and follows the site’s EHS policy.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete all required training with in due dates.
  • Ability to cope with rapidly changing priorities based on current business needs.
  • Troubleshoot with the Maintenance staff to resolve automation and controls related issues that arise in the Operations as needed.
  • Assist Sr. Automation Engineer with root cause analysis activities for automation and controls related incidents, update the software, and perform automation PMs.
  • Assist Sr. Automation Engineer with creating and entering change control requirements in the Automated Quality Management System.
  • Assist Sr. Automation Engineer with automation related activities and paper works are properly in place.

Qualifications

  • AssociatesDegree in Electrical Engineering/Technology (2-year degree) or Electro-Mechanical degree with related experience required
  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar technical role.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in cGMP and Aseptic experience preferred.
  • Must be self-driven, flexible, and willing to work necessary overtime required to meet goals including after-hours call in and programming troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to learn rapidly and work with multidiscipline personnel and emphasis on teamwork to get things done.
  • Attention to details and resolve complex automation/equipment related issues with the good judgement, knowledge, and experience at performing in a high paced environment, be flexible to business/management needs, and resourceful.
  • Training certificates from Rockwell Automation platform: PLC/HMI/SCADA.
  • Start up experience in pharma is a plus.
