Position Title: Software Developer for InnovationPosition Location: Quincy, MA or Mooresville, NCPosition Summary:For this Software Developer position, we're looking for someone with a strong desire and ability to be hands-on developing software and integrating software/hardware for Innovation projects related to Retail Grocery.The innovation scrum delivery teams are made up of teams of Software Developers. This person works in a full-stack environment to develop code and integration for Proof-of-Concepts in the Retail Grocery environment. The developers use a variety of software applications, languages and tools. Each developer may focus primarily on a specific area, such as Front-End, Back-End, Azure DevOps or Data Integration; however, due to the nature of experimentation and different types of projects, flexibility and change from one project to another is a part of life. Therefore, interest in and the ability to learn new technology and languages and to shift gears between projects is valuable to the team. Some developers work on RAD scrum teams and others work on the Innovation Acceleration team, which supports the innovation process from a technical standpoint and develops tools, techniques and best practices for accelerating the work within the Propulsion Lab and the Retail COE as well as work to transition and scale work from the innovation stage to production. Like all teams within Innovation, this team collaborates across many areas and provides influence through thought leadership, experimental results and best practices.The Propulsion Lab is the technology innovation arm at RBS. Requirements Basic Qualifications: • 3-7 years of experience working in software development • Bachelors or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field• Experience working in product development and/or startups is a plus• Hands-on experience developing software applications using the following:o Web Development technologies (HTML, CSS, DOM, JQuery, AJAX, REST, & JSON) o JavaScript frameworks and libraries (AngularJS, React Native, React, Vue, Node JS) o Build automation tools (GULP, Gradle and NPM) o Unit test frameworks (JEST, Enzyme). o Relational and Non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB) o DevOps and CICD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins)o Github, Jira and other development tools• Preferred experience with the following:o Mobile development (iOS and Android)o Containerized deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, & Cloud deployment technologieso Linuxo Retail, POS integrationo Pythono C, C, C#• Excellent diagnostic, debugging, and troubleshooting skills• Proficient with cloud computing services, such as Microsoft Azure • Proficient in collaborative software development using git.• Must be able to adapt quickly to change without being afraid to take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced team environment while being proactive and action-oriented• Ability to effectively communicate using strong verbal, written and listening skills• Ability to come up with creative ways to look at problems and solutions • Retail or Retail Grocery Experience a plusPreferred Qualifications: • Master's degree a plus• Retail or Retail Grocery Experience a plus• Experience within a startup environment or innovation team a plusIf you're a dynamic technology professional who wants to be part of a growing technology innovation team that strengthens thousands of retail stores with creative technology solutions, then we want to meet you!A Day in the Life:• Develop software for innovation POCs, experiments and product development• Use software development techniques to integrate hardware components and data• Develop solutions for extracting data and preparing it for use in POCs, experiments and for other innovation and scale-up project needs• Collaborate with Product Owners, IT and Data teams and brand representatives to understand retail business problems and solution requirements in order to ideate and experiment on ways to bring value to the customers • Help team develop best practices for software development and experimentation within innovation • Use team-developed and industry best practices and work with team to improve on them• You look for ways to continue to improve our processes as contributor and member of the team What you Bring:• 3-7 years of experience working in software development • Bachelors or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field• Creative can-do attitude that is proactive and not afraid to try something, fail and pivot• Bachelors or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field• Experience working in product development and/or startups is a plus• Attention to detail with the ability to start simple and iterative build on an idea or project• Comfortable within uncertainty and ability to shift between divergent and convergent thinking#dicejobVacancy expired!
