Our client is looking for a Data Governance Lead for a virtual position.In this role you will be responsible for the roll out of Data Governance across the company and coordinating working team activities and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department, Business and Functional areas, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs. Essential Job Functions

  • Promote and educate the Client business functions about data quality issues, the Data Governance Program and its activities and benefits.
  • Align Data Governance use of technology to the enterprise information and security strategy.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Data Council and follow their guidance and priorities to activate Data Governance Working Teams to achieve a high level of data quality.
  • Along with Subject Area Owners and Data Governance Partners, authors standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Client business functions and departments.
  • Develop, review, and monitor data quality processes and Data Governance metrics to assess performance and effectiveness of the Data Governance program.
  • Mentor and consult the Data Council, Subject Area Owners, Data Stewards and Working Teams on the Data Governance Program and related Policies, Procedures and Standards.
  • Manages all Client-wide data governance activities and has the responsibility for reporting the results and status of the data quality initiatives to the Data Council and Management Group.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to the enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices, both at the Corporate and Department business function level, to achieve the required level of data quality and availability of data to meet overall business needs.
  • Serve as a point of escalation, along with the Data Governance Partners, for governance, data quality, and availability issues. Work closely with business and departmental leadership to improve the availability and value of core data assets, respond to operational requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of Client.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of Master Data Management technology landscape, processes and design principles
  • Operational familiarity in the use of meta-data management, data quality, and data stewardship tools and platforms
  • Experience in the use of data catalogues and data quality technologies
  • Hands-on operational management and change management.
  • Proven track record in operating large data governance programs. Knowledge of Cloud based big data frameworks such as data lake, relational and other no-SQL databases
  • Experience in managing enterprise data assets in a large, complex organization
  • Should be familiar with cloud and data management trends, including open source projects, methodologies (connect and collect, hub and spoke, data fabrics, etc.) and leading commercial vendors that relate to data acquisition, management and the semantic web
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions
  • Ability to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the organization
  • Strong relationship building skills
