The Global Plumbing Group has an opening for an Electrical Engineer to join our Platforms Team at our Global headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. This product development role will be responsible for electrical hardware design and cross-disciplinary collaboration for various digital and IoT connected products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross disciplinary teams on the design and development of new products from concept to production.
  • Simulate electrical hardware circuits to validate design concepts.
  • Use PC CAD software for schematic capture and board layout including the creation of library parts as needed.
  • Help support PC CAD software and implement best practices to maximize product development and overall organizational efficiency.
  • Lead problem solving by designing, validating, and testing electrical hardware.
  • Support quality testing by reviewing test plans and providing necessary information to support the development of robust tests.
  • Coordinate with embedded software engineers to ensure that overall product and system requirements are met in a cost effective and efficient way.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to select appropriate tradeoffs for electromechanical products.
  • Support DFA/DFM to ensure hardware manufacturability and help develop, deploy, and support production test processes during development.
  • Interact with Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Manufacturers, Purchasing, and other engineering disciplines to meet the specifications and needs of the customer in the development of new, reliable products for the market.
  • Provide support to resolve design problems in existing products.
  • Participate in agile sprints to track, prioritize, and communicate work assignments to keep projects on schedule and manage technical risks in a high pace environment.
  • Prioritize work and elevate concerns while resolving multiple complex engineering problems that span cross disciplinary teams.
  • Continuously improve processes, skills, team environment, and tools necessary to achieve Moen’s product leadership strategy.
  • Research advanced technologies and identify opportunities for IP protection.
  • Proactively compile, prepare and present data for timely project updates and technical presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in product development or related role.
  • A strong personal drive to get results by systematically overcoming obstacles and identifying gaps requiring outside support.
  • Proficiency with PC CAD and circuit simulation tools
  • A good understand of PC board manufacturing processes to aid in making informed design decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively work with domestic and international partners with different cultures and viewpoints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with multiple levels of staff, customers, and partners.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally to visit suppliers, attend trade shows, and support manufacturing builds.
  • Comfortable identifying problems and pushing to do what is right even if it may be difficult.
  • Proficient writing software programs to facilitate data collection or initial testing of hardware (preferred).
  • Familiarity with wireless communication standards such as Wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Cellular (preferred).
  • Experience with potting and conformal coating technologies and techniques to protect electronics in wet and corrosive environments (preferred).
  • Experience working with motors (preferred) and various transducers to gather and react to data from the environment.
