Network Engineer Location: Raleigh, NC (hybrid) Duration: Contract to Hire

Kelly Technology is currently recruiting for a Network Engineer. The ideal candidate will have strong background with network builds and design. Successful candidates also need experience with Cisco products (routers/switches) and Firewalls (Palo Alto or Juniper). Prior experience with network security is highly desired.

This position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and overall health of corporate networks, including cloud-based services and on-premises infrastructure. Position is also responsible for circuit management, service availability, security and disaster recovery planning for network services. The position materially assists with contract negotiations, maintains vendor relationships, manages third-party resources, consults with internal customers, and is occasionally required to lead and/or participate on cross-functional project teams

Duties The position participates on a team that shares responsibilities and will be assigned a subset of the following tasks based on individual work assignments:
  • Architect, design, document, and implement network solutions that meet the needs of internal business units.
  • Maintain knowledge and function as a subject matter expert in assigned areas. Consult with internal customers, anticipate needs, and ensure optimal technology solutions are always in place.
  • Ensure continual health, security, performance, and high availability of all corporate network services.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and coordinate tier 4 (vendor escalation) support as required.
  • Plan and execute service and software patches, updates, and upgrades as required while minimizing impact to customers.
  • Assist with budget planning, reporting, contract management, and other financial activities.
  • Assist with strategic planning activities, including capacity planning, process improvement, and roadmap development.
  • Create, maintain, publish, and distribute usage, performance, and other reports as needed by customers and management.
  • Provide technical leadership to project teams.

Required:
  • Significant experience with managing VLAN centered network architectures and related network technologies
  • Significant experience with modern Palo Alto, Juniper and Cisco networking gear and cloud-based services
  • Multi-site network design and operations including disaster recovery, segmentation, high availability, BGP, VPN, security, IP design, and other related topics
  • Ability to provide technical leadership on a project team
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

Preferred: - Applicable certifications (CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, etc.)
