Compensation: Converting salary at $130K

Type: Contract to hire – converts after 6 months $70 - $75/HR W2 or $75-$80/HR 1099/CTCOur client is seeking a Database Developer at their offices in Raleigh, NC 27668. This role is on a contract to hire basis and will pay an hourly rate of $70-75/HR on a W2 Basis or $75-80 on a CTC/1099 basis and will convert at an annual salary of $130K. A hybrid work week for this role is available after the initial orientation period.Due to the required clearance with our government client, only US Citizens, Green Card and Green Card EAD holders may be considered. Clearance requires that the candidates have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Experience with relational database design, implementation and/or data load experience on large database implementations
  • Design, develop, test, performance tune, deploy and support Teradata database components.
  • Develop complex database processes with BTEQ containing batch or ETL functionality
  • Responsible for performing performance tuning Teradata, SQL, Unix shell Scripting
  • Loading data from various data sources and legacy systems into Teradata production and development warehouse using BTEQ, FASTEXPORT, MULTI LOAD, FASTLOAD
  • With the in-depth expertise in the Teradata cost based query optimizer, identified potential bottlenecks with queries from the aspects of query writing, skewed redistributions, join order, optimizer statistics, physical design considerations (PI and USI and NUSI and JI etc) etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of Teradata Explain and Visual Explain to analyze and improve query performance.
  • Requirements gathering, design, development, testing and documentation
  • Design logical and physical ERD diagrams, process flow diagrams, or related data processing documentation
  • Debug, troubleshoot, root cause analysis and resolve issues within SLA
  • Assist Decision Support team members including DBAs, database developers, requirements analysts, and others, in understanding data and meeting user requirements
  • Participate in project work groups with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to understand data specific needs
  • Participate in performance tuning activities and unit testing
  • Provide production deployment and production support as needed
  • Analyzing and converting business requirements to technical requirements, followed by designing and implementing the solutions
  • Involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle; - and demonstrate abilities to learn both the business processes as well as new and existing technologies

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 7 years of professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience in designing, creating and developing with Teradata
  • Experience in developing logical and physical data models using data modeling tools such as Rational Data Architect, Erwin, Oracle Developer, other tools
  • Strong programming/development skills using BTEQ and SQL (Procedures, functions, Macros) and batch coding skills, and parallel processing
  • Experience designing OLAP systems
  • Strong SQL development, SQL analytics and tuning skills
  • Excellent analytic, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyze complex and large amounts of data
  • Strong communications skills (both verbal & written)
