Please note that this is 3 months contract position. Description:Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities. Formulates/defines specifications and develops/modifies/maintains complex systems and subsystems using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems. Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems. Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs. Analyzes methods of approach. Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems. Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used. Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration. Performs all functional duties independently. Works on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of assigned program(s). Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or is responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.Description:The requirement is for a person with 10 years or more of experience.Basic Qualifications are as followes:- Experience with Redhat Linux and Ab Initio.- Strong database experience in any or all of - Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2.- Strong in Informatica ETL coding, shell scripting and have Linux/RedHat experience.- Ability to research tool and platform related problems and document /atriculate appropriate resolutions.- Perform operational administrative functions including supporting- Perform job related tasks in support of primary support duties including submission of Chage requests , follow up procedures to open up ports and verify database connectiivty, etc.Requirements:- Experience in addressing Scope and assess change requests and reported defects in order to provide recommended solutions and associated level of effort and time estimates- Develop ETL design adhering to the EDW ETL DevelopmentStandards for a large, complex Teradata warehouse environment- Develop Ab Initio ETL adhering to the Postal Ab Initio ETL Development standards for a large, complex ETL environment- Perform application development, enhancement, and maintenance support for ETL application code for services ranging from simple to extremely complex- Provide Ab Initio development technical support to other Ab Initio developers.- Perform necessary quality review steps for all applications including peer review of code, design of test plans, implementation, and base performance validation- Compliance to and technical guidance on issues relating to configuration management/change control standards and process for ETL code- Design, development, and continual improvement of test scripts- Development and implementation of test plans for all program changes- Completion of all mandatory application documentation per relevant USPS standards and guidelines- Compliance to all USPS guidelines and standards for systems securityAbility to evaluate, plan, manage, track, and provide status on systemMaintenance, enhancement, and support activities at a task level- Provide advanced support for all production failures as assigned, supportand comply with all USPS problem management standards and processes- Be available for on-call response in order to provide the EDW, EDS, and CDAS applications with a 24X7 emergency response capability.Qualifications:- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in in the following software development;- Ab Initio ETL Coding in GDE- Ab Initio Metadata Hub Lineage- Ab Initio TRMC- ANSI SQL and Teradata SQL extensions- Teradata SQL Assistant (a.k.a. QueryMan) for EDW Support- Teradata Utilities for EDW Support:- BTEQ- FastLoad- MultiLoad- FastExport- TPumpIn addition, the following UNIX skills are required:- UNIX commands and concepts in order to navigate source code directories, find error logs, perform impact analysis assessments, edit code, version files- Linux Shell scripting in order to read and create driver scriptsIn addition, the following Ab Initio skills are required:- A working knowledge of how Ab Initio conducts data extract, transformations, and loading – especially to and from Teradata- Development of graphs, plans, PSETs and how to develop tests and debug- PDL scriptingRequired Skills:- A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred- Able to perform all functional duties independently on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of a given program- Able to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job- Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel;- Good teamwork/collaboration skills- Ability to provide accurate inputs for cost estimates- Working knowledge of/experience with Agile methodologiesKnowledge of/experience with the following:•• VersionOne•• ServiceNow•• Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)

Preferred Skills:- A working knowledge of how MicroStrategy and other OLAP tools interact with Teradata.- A working knowledge of the major competing Data Warehouse modeling techniques (Third-Normal-Form and Dimensional modeling) and how data modeling decisions affect the performance of ETL, structured report queried, and unstructured data analysis.- A working knowledge of Web API development.- Experience in any or all of the following is a plus- Spark, Map Reduce, Hive, Scala, Cassandra and other open source technologies.- Excellent communications skillsApplicants must provide their phone number.
