Security Analyst/ Engineer - Contract role - Financial Client - #Remote

We're hiring Security Analyst/ Engineer to analyze requirements provided by customers and subsequently deploy said use cases (as applicable) onto the Security Monitoring platform used by the Security Operations Center. This candidate will be able to provide opinions on implementation, logic in use, etc. The candidate will also assist in keeping essential documentation up to date.This team continually assesses threats and respective gaps within the bank in order to propose and enact alerts for SOC investigation.

As this team regularly partners with external teams for various efforts, the candidate will also have the opportunity to interact with various other teams within the field of Cyber Security.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write and code use cases as directed by requirements from customers
  • Implement use cases within Splunk / Splunk Enterprise Security
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate use case development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Review use case requirements to estimate feasibility of request. Suggest alternatives where viable.
  • Review and modify documentation and processes to ensure accuracy

Required Skills/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field desired, not necessary.
  • 2-4 years' experience working within the cyber security analytics capability.
  • Assist a team in crafting and implementing use cases within Splunk ES while utilizing best practices (CIM compliance, performance, etc).
  • While a strong background in security is not required, an engineering/development background is.
  • Understanding of full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
  • Experienced to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
  • Knowledge of Splunk, engineering practices, GIT deployment, and programming.
  • Knowledge of use case development across multiple platforms.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.
