About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Control Management Officer. This position will report to the Diversity Segments, Representation and Inclusion as well as the Public Affairs Control Management Executive and support the DSRI Program Management, External Engagements, Diverse, Equity & Inclusion consultants, Insights, Analytics & Strategy, and the various Diverse Segment Leaders to develop effective corrective actions to address issues. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with expertise in risk management; a self-starter who is accustomed to working in complex organizations with a diverse group of stakeholders; and, someone who is able to withstand challenges and adapt accordingly. They will also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholder groups including leaders within DSRI, Public Affairs, the Enterprise Function Control Executive Shared Services team, Legal, Public Affairs, Human Resources, Enterprise Risk, Audit, and Corporate Communications.In this role, you will:Provide consultation, expertise and strategic direction in the control design to effectively mitigate risks
Lead and influences the design and implementation of business controls programs and complex initiatives
Gathers and analyzes data to provide ongoing monitoring and assessment of operating/control environment
Facilitate end to end issue management for issues owned by the business
Validate action plans and perform sustainability validation of issues owned by the business
Perform root cause and theme/trend identification leading to proactive mitigation of issues
Primary risk management contact for the function with proven knowledge of controls, services, processes, vendors and systems
Support the development of a strong risk and control culture within the group
Continuously engage in discussions with DSRI partners on strategy, industry trends, organizational changes, and new processes, systems, vendors, projects, and services, to determine impact and identify and remediate risk issues across all risk types
Collaborate with and counsel with business process and control owners on identifying where controls reside, documenting controls, and managing control changes
Collaborate with and counsel DSRI partners on matters relating to the identification, formulation, and implementation of corporate policies, procedures to mitigate risks.
Builds and maintains partnerships with Corporate Risk, Audit, Legal, and regulators
Proactively counsel DSRI leadership on new and emerging risks, issue management, and remediation and provides reporting on risks/controls/issues to the respective business leader and Independent Risk Management
Report findings and develop business cases to influence senior management on the need for controls to mitigate risk.
Assess and communicate risk and controls performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies
Act as an advisor to more experienced leaders in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines
Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function
Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management
Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations
Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams
Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:Knowledge and understanding of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Risk Identification and Assessment (ERIA)
Data Governance/Data Management Experience
Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory Risk and Compliance policies and programs
Knowledge and understanding of complex regulatory/compliance issues and potential solutions
Experience with Sustainability Risk
Advanced knowledge of issue management policy
Proven experience with conducting risk and process assessments
Experience determining the root cause of identified issues
Experience identifying key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively through resolution
Experience articulating issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
Experience with skills documentation including creating process flows, risk mapping, and anchoring
Knowledge and understanding of compliance or operational risk
Knowledge and understanding of human resources policies and processes in the financial services industry
Knowledge and understanding of risk management
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong risk management and compliance skills
Business consultation experience in defining key performance metrics, dashboards, or scorecards
Experience coordinating multiple tasks within aggressive time frames
Audit or internal controls testing experience
Consulting experience in compensation, human resources, accounting, or finance
Experience reviewing testing strategies and methodologies; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations
Experience working with internal and external auditors and examiners
Strong relationship development skills
Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
