Occasional weekend and evening work required.Job Location: Raleigh, NC (may be eligible for hybrid schedule and/or remote)Department: Enterprise Application Services, OIT About the Department Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement & maintenance of the University’s enterprise business applications. This includes: development, operation & maintenance of all enterprise administrative systems (Advancement, Financials, HR, Portal and Student Information Systems, REPORTER, etc.), configuration management, maintenance, enhancements, and application integration. Essential Job Duties: This senior level position on the Enterprise Information Management & Analytics (EIMA) team is primarily responsible for the following:
- Primary support and platform administrator for the SAS enterprise environments, including installation, configuration, security design, configuration management/migrations, and patches/upgrades
- Interface with the Application Infrastructure Services(AIS) team for server related issues
- Lead technical efforts of SAS enterprise platform support and solutions, including monitoring server activity and administer logging and debugging and performance tuning
- Assess technical and functional impacts from vendor-supplied updates and upgrades and provide recommendations for organizing and planning of projected work to minimize customer impact
- Ensure uptime for various SAS servers, workspace, LASR, web tier, etc
- Optimize the use of the platform by developing and implementing best practices of existing products and provide recommendations for new data management and analytics products, including security model
- Deliver excellent customer service using a customer-first and continuous improvement mindset to foster customer and SAS community relationships, to include onboarding new business units to be introduced to SAS, existing business units that may be more proficient, as well as a variety of levels within the organizational structure
- Administrate and support the connections and security to various Databases, primarily Oracle, Redshift, MySql and SFTP, but not limited to
- Support, manage, monitor, and debug SAS jobs, stored processes and custom SAS programs through the preferred SAS tools available to the enterprise
- Develop tools and software to manage internal SAS processes and third-party software
- Diagnose, document, report, and resolve system problems
- Work directly with external customers and interface with other support teams and vendors
- Assist in recommending process improvement ideas to streamline team tasks and activities
- Assist in determining improvements in structural configuration and security design for a rapidly growing environment that includes various customer requirements
- Enterprise Business Analytics system architecture and performance tuning
- ETL processes, programming and Analytic report development
- Business Analytics process design and implementation
- Analytic reporting delivery, platform administration, configuration management/migration processes and metadata management
- Oracle database design (version 12+)
- Data Analytics and Management software implementations, updates, upgrades and administration
- Enterprise-wide operational and reporting data integrations
- Security model for various levels of enterprise developers and report readers across different business and IT units as it relates to data analytics
- Ability to work with various levels within customer and IT organizations (including senior management) and to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to balance immediate and long-term priorities to meet critical objectives while considering the impact of those decisions and activities on the ability to achieve long-term goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical subjects including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent at problem solving, analytical and evaluative skills with an ability to resolve complex, difficult technical issues at the macro level
- Data Analytics and management tools/language
- Must be capable of quickly learning new tools and processes, detail oriented, and possess strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
- Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience and knowledge of the SAS Enterprise Platform 9.4
- Knowledge of Oracle Peoplesoft in a University setting
- Data Analytics and management tools/language, including SAS Management Console, SAS Environment Manager, SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Stored processes, SAS Studio, SAS programming, SQL, XML
- Experience implementing a SAS security model that is effective and efficient at a Enterprise level
- Experience in Data Mart/Data Warehouse design and implementation
