Job Description and Responsibilities :

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Tech 3 performs construction work on towers, including removing existing antennas, transmission lines, and associated equipment as well as installing new antennas, radios, transmission lines, and associated equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Climb towers

Rigging

Install antennas and associated equipment on towers

Ensure climber safety for self and others on the crew

Train and mentor the Tech 2 and Tech 1 on the crew

Assist with all tower top RF, fiber, and DC power testing

Interpret test results and troubleshooting system issues

Responsible for tool inventory and daily upkeep on job site

Other duties as assigned

Requirements :

Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred

Experience:

Minimum of nine months climbing experience

Knowledge and proven ability to perform Fiber/Sweep testing

Knowledge of knots and tower rigging necessary

Working knowledge of fall protection practices and procedures and tower life saving techniques

Knowledge of knots and tower rigging techniques

Technical Skills:

Must have or obtain documented Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue Certification from an accredited institution that meets the federal standards

Must have or obtain OSHA Construction 10 HR Safety Training

Must have or obtain First Aid and CPR certification

Must have completed an RF/EME safety course from a competent provider with documentation

Industrial first aid and rescue training

Proficient ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical or electrical issues

Ability to safely work tower top independently

Ability to identify tower top components easily and assist the Maintenance Foreman with troubleshooting or repairing to completion of job

Proficient ability to perform and interpret Sweep, PIM, other RF system tests, Fiber tests and DC power tests

Soft Skills:

Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions

Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently when required

Ability to motivate, lead, teach, and train on proper work and safety procedures

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

Must have a valid drivers license and a driving record that meets Company requirements

Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, for long periods of time

Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes

Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time

Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several weeks at a time

May be required to work long and unpredictable hours

Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
