Our strategy is to lead with design and user experience, to engineer the systems that run the business, and to innovate to transform the business.As a Software Developer for the CIO hybrid cloud Monitoring & Event Automation team, you will develop, support and maintain the in-house developed multi-technology monitoring and automated remediation systems which support all IBM's internal applications and systems. You will be able to grow your skills by using other IBM technologies, such as the Watson range of AI products, as part of our solutions, and by developing for container-native environments.You will use your Java skills, but will also have the chance to learn front-end development as well if you wish. You will have the opportunity to be certified in solutions such as Splunk, Dynatrace and Instana since these are the commercial tools with which our in-house systems integrate.A typical day may include:Attending team standups or cross-functional interactions

Developing code, tests, fixing bugs (sorry! Yes, we have those sometimes)

Using our CI process to take code to production

Learning new skills, and enhancing existing ones using IBM's extensive learning platform -all employees are required to complete at least 40 hours of training each year, and are supported in earning badges, certifications and qualifications

Using IBM's Slack channels to interact with other colleagues across the company on business, technical and social topics

This role is located predominantly remote with occasional office attendance in our campus in Research Triangle Park near Raleigh, NC, so candidates should ideally be located within a reasonable commuting distance.Required Technical and Professional Expertise4+ years of Java development experience

Spring Boot or Java EE (Websphere would be nice, but any ok)

SQL (preferably DB2 but any modern SQL is ok)

JPA

Unit testing

Hands on experience with Github

Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience with monitoring systems, SNMP

Experience with Spring security framework (OAuth2, JWT)

Some experience with RabbitMQ
