The Integrated Genetics division of LabCorp is seeking a Genomics Programmer Analyst to join their Laboratory Automations team in RTP, NC. This position will join a team that supports several testing departments at CMBP by assisting with instrument troubleshooting and in the development / implementation of new automated laboratory processes. The hours for this position is Wed-Sat 1p-1130p. Responsibilities:

  • Instrument troubleshooting / support for various units, for example: 20 Tecan liquid handlers; 12 King Fisher extraction instruments; 13 Hamilton liquid handlers; and others.
  • Write Tecan scripts and coding for new processes.
  • Test / troubleshoot Hamilton scripts, providing feedback to vendor.
  • Train laboratory staff on new automated processes.
  • Optimize existing automated processes.
  • Update, troubleshoot, and maintain databases use for sample and reagent (primer) tracking, collecting / collating information needed by LIMS system.
  • Optimize existing assay spreadsheets to include additional improvements (automated result checking).
  • Work with CMBP Integrated Genetics departments to troubleshoot assay issues and play an active role in developing / implement process improvements.
  • Serve as a primary resource for several ongoing lab automation and process improvement projects, acting as SME (subject matter expert) for newly automated processes. Train laboratory staff on new automated processes.

The Research Triangle itself is named for the Triangle formed by the three universities: Duke University at Durham, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
  • B.A./B.S. in Biology or relatable life science required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Clinical Diagnostic Lab setting required, 3+ years preferred.
  • Previous experience with performing PCR-based genetic testing, required. NGS experience strongly preferred. Direct experience with utilizing automated liquid handling instruments strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with and working knowledge of various computer coding languages (C#, SQL, VBA, XAML) strongly preferred.
