CATIA Specialist for Global Automotive Company in North Carolina

Summary:Work in the technical services and innovative design space within a globally known automotive company as a CATIA Specialist. This department takes on unmet needs of what’s outside direct consumer development and supports development engineers with technical services such as 3D modeling, prototype creation, machining, 3D printing, metrology, general services and all procurement for the entire division. Work on a variety of product designs such as robotics and autonomous vehicles, marine products, commercial and residential lawnmowers, electric tools such as pressure washers, snow blowers and more. Become an integral part of this creative team as a CATIA Specialist, previous automotive industry experience is not required!

Responsibilities:
  • Design and draw models out utilizing CATIA V5 (R28, No Magic: SP4 and/ or Haptics 87) to be printed and/ or machined.
  • Verify all parts that need to be made or sourced for designs and communicate how well it all matches the designs/ what’s out of spec to assist the test team with understanding the data they’re generating.
  • You will be given a conceptual idea to put into the company’s 3D/ digital space to become prototypes.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, materials and manufacturing processes (stamping, injection molding, forging, casting, etc.) which shall include forming requirements, tooling requirements, cost drivers.
  • Create 2D isometric layouts and 3D models based upon requests, requirements, or the direction of the Design Engineer.
  • Workbenches: GSD, FTA, part design.
  • Drafting exposure to various technologies as required by the department specialty area.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and processes to enable efficient vehicle development.
  • Assist design engineer(s) by making recommendations with consideration towards manufacturing feasibility by considering formability.

Required Skillset:
  • 4+ years of hands on experience with CATIA V5 or V6 (R28, No Magic: SP4 and/ or Haptics 87).
  • Ability in CATIA to create a 2D layout: isometric dimension and constrained drawings. Need to be able to generate 3D parts for manufacturing.
  • Understanding of revision management, linking parts and creating products.
  • AS Degree/Certification in Design or Engineering Technology or related field

Bonus Skillset:
  • Candidates willing to learn CATIA with other relevant experience could be considered.
