Job Description

The Manager, Recruitment drives excellent results recruiting top, racially and gender diverse talent, maintaining an equitable hiring process, and building a collaborative environment among all leaders within the state. The Manager, Recruitment will build rich and diverse talent pipelines, manage the selection process, and support School Leaders in on-boarding and retaining top talent throughout the school year. The Manager, Recruitment reports to the Director, Talent.

Responsibilities

Staff Recruitment

The Manager, Recruitment will manage a portfolio of schools designing a recruitment strategy to find, select, and retain top talent for their schools. They must:

  • Build a recruitment strategy and project plan that is centered on gender and racial diversity of prospects and applicants for all talent pipelines, using a plethora of different tactical activities to engage top talent based on historical data and research.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences to deliver a compelling vision tailored to their motivations and interests
  • Identify, cultivate, and influence new sources of talent that have been untapped by KIPP and offer fresh perspectives to the organization
  • Hold a high bar for talent while maintaining equitable hiring processes, eliminating implicit biases.
  • Manage internal operation systems to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
  • Use data to drive excellent results, meeting or surpassing recruitment targets and revising and pivoting tactical strategies to ensure a strong talent pipeline is cultivated for every role.

Strategic Planning

The Manager, Recruitment will be responsible for using historical data and projected vacancies to establish year-long goals. They must:

  • Set, define, and meet ambitious goals that are aligned with larger organizational objectives
  • Collect and analyze data to make the best decisions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of individual strategies and the overall recruitment campaign
  • Develop, implement, and track recruitment strategies designed to increase visibility and fill talent pipelines

Talent Cycle Management

The Manager, Recruitment will work with teams across the organization to communicate effectively and build strong feedback systems. The Manager will:

  • Lead Intent to Return and vacancy conversations with leaders to get an accurate picture of projected growth roles and vacancies across all schools.
  • Cultivate relationships with leaders and teachers within the region, involving them in the recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Communicate transparently with all stakeholders providing regular updates, collaborating on recruitment processes, and working collaboratively with hiring managers to hire strong teams.
  • Collaborate with School Leaders on the performance review processes to at all times understand where talent stands within schools and the organization.

KIPP NC reserves the right to assign other duties and responsibilities as it sees fit.

Role Expectations

This is a salaried position and works 8am - 5pm daily and may require some nights and weekends during exceptionally busy seasons. While this role is currently remote due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be travel involved in the future once it is safe to do so. This role is flexible within North Carolina, however, being based out of Charlotte, Durham / Raleigh, Gaston, or Halifax is preferred.

  • Possess a deep commitment to both racial equity and improving the lives of kids from low-income communities; experience working within predominantly Black, Brown, and/or low-income communities
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience in recruitment
  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively, manage up and maintain detailed organization processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated experience in the ability to communicate with, engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of the KIPPs of North Carolina
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and G Suite
  • Zest, grit, a sense of humor, and a love for music and memes

Preferred Qualifications

The following are not required but are advantageous for applicants:

  • A track record of success with YOY results recruiting top talent for K - 12 schools, especially instructional talent
  • Experience working for high performing charter school networks or affiliates (i.e. Achievement First, Uncommon, Up Network, Teach For America, or Education Pioneers)
  • Experience with our ATS, SmartRecruiters
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Handshake, Simplicity, Indeed, and other talent cultivation systems

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package, including paid time off, 100% employer paid medical, dental, and vision for individuals, and enrollment in a 403(b) program with employer match.
