Location : Ellendale, ND & Jamestown ND - Onsite - Hybrid Duration : 6 month contract to hire Job Summary: The Data Center Systems Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, installation, configuration and maintenance of company hardware, software and related infrastructure. This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization's priorities and enabling Company employees to do their work effectively. The Systems Engineer is responsible for diagnosing and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability. He or she will also be accountable for planning updates and maintenance of hardware and software resources to mitigate limitations and combat obsolescence. Job Duties
- The Data Center Systems Engineer will research, recommend, install, configure, upgrade and administer hardware (Server, Storage, Client, Network) and peripherals to achieve operational requirements and project specifications.
- Create, manage, and maintain server, software, virtualization and containerization environments.
- Support corporate IT and vendors with on-site server, workstation and employee software access.
- Perform routine backup operations.
- Assist in management of user accounts, creating, updating and removing access as necessary.
- Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed.
- Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, help desk tickets, and other methods.
- The Data Center Systems Engineer will act as a technical resource during other projects as required.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
- Network and systems related designations/certifications. (CCNA required)
- Experienced in scripting for administration using tools like Bash, Python, and PowerShell
- Strong knowledge of the following Infrastructure components: VMware, Microsoft (MCSE), Network (CCNA), Systems Security and Clients.
- Demonstrated mastery of managing critical systems and network services including but not limited to DHCP, NTP, and DNS
- Strong knowledge in the administration and use of the following: Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, VMware, Linux, and NAS.
- Thorough understanding of networking protocols, LAN networking, and WAN networking.
