Summary

The High-Bay Freezer(HBF) Mechanic is responsible to ensure efficient operation of all mechanical equipment for the high-bay freezer in addition to the associated warehouse area.

This position would include mechanical and general facility maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment, including highly automated electrical / mechanical equipment.

This position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the mechanical equipment and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgement when a situation dictates.

Maintains Company standards for safety, food safety, quality, sanitation and GMP’s. Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.

Ensures proper sanitation and cleaning procedures of all equipment and tools.

Responsible for maintaining equipment within the high-bay freezer / warehouse area to Company and manufacture standards.

This equipment may contain various systems to include electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic. Equipment includes, but is not limited to batteries, forklifts, chargers, pumps, motors, overhead doors, cranes, rovers, etc.

Troubleshooting and maintenance on the automated systems and machines. This will include mechanical / electrical troubleshooting in addition to maintenance of equipment.

Disassembles and reassembles equipment throughout the warehouse area including, but not limited to motors, gearboxes, vales, hydraulic systems, coupler, alignment systems, and weighing systems.

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery and facilities as required by the Company and manufacture standards.

Maintains all shop inventories, tools and equipment. Creates, performs and completes work orders in the system as assigned or as needed.

Coordinates or schedules additional work as needed. Identifies parts needed for work to be done, conducts inventory searches and locates parts.

Documents, monitors, maintains and assists with reporting of shift events, logging predictive maintenance data and assists with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software.

Troubleshoot equipment in order to recommend the best solution to maintain / repair, ensuring safety and to minimize downtime.

If standard repair exists, continue per the standard repair instructions (including any associated JSA). If the repair is non-standard, work to create procedure to repair (to include a risk assessment and JSA).

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Associates degree or technical certification in related field preferred.

Relevant Experience

Two years of industrial electrical / electrical troubleshooting experience required.

Two years of industrial mechanical experience required.

Other Information

Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics; Basic electrical repair in an industrial / manufacturing environment;

Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings and write detailed repair reports; Ability to analyze and make decisions;

Ability to diagram equipment control problems; Strong verbal and written English communication skills; Good organizational and planning skills.

Preferred : Experience with 480-volt power and 24 control voltages to 120 volt electrical troubleshooting; Program and trouble shoot Allen Bradley SLC500 and MicroLogix series.

Physical Requirements : Lift and move heavy equipment; Climb ladders and work in high, precarious places.

Working Environment : May be exposed to wet or humid conditions; May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions; May be exposed to high noise environments;

May be exposed to chemicals used in the process; Could be in temperatures of -5 degrees.
