Job Description

Moen has a new opening for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our largest Assembly and Manufacturing Plant in New Bern, NC (relocation benefits considered).

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe working environment, and actively participate and lead plant safety events, committees, and activities. Support plant in achieving Zero by Choice expectations.
  • Own ergonomic assessments for assigned area. Responsible for conducting assessments and ensuring risk priority scores (RPS) meet specified standards.
  • Perform advance planning activities, including participation in design reviews and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs), develop standard work documents, author and manage control plans and shop floor quality documents.
  • Support New Product Development activities in terms of product, process, and quality qualifications.
  • Lead disciplined problem solving activities and provide process and quality engineering support to the manufacturing/assembly and maintenance teams to solve product, equipment, and process related issues. Identify and implement engineered solutions and recommend design changes to prevent manufacturing/assembly and quality issues.
  • Own and lead Lean and continuous improvement activities for assigned area. Identify, manage and successfully complete projects and tasks, and lead and facilitate Kaizen events in support of manufacturing/assembly process and quality continuous improvement.
  • Manage and execute projects associated with the plant strategic direction. Initiate capital expenditure requests for capital projects and execute capital expenditure requests through full payback.
  • Own, develop, and maintain department layouts and coordinate equipment moves.
  • Own, coordinate, and maintain the equipment safety signoff and release process.
  • Utilize standard Industrial Engineering tools for the qualification of labor and establishment of headcount templates.
  • Monitor and adjust line capacities in response to significant confirmed volume changes.
  • Conduct ongoing dialog with external resources to drive improvement in external quality, new products quality, design quality, and supplier quality.
  • Compile, prepare, and present data for project updates and technical presentations.
  • Own and lead the performance of the following metrics safety RIR, productivity, PPM, VoCs, scrap, and equipment OEE.
  • Perform required data analysis of process audits, first pass yield, and outgoing quality defects to systematically improve product and process issues.
  • May provide direction and leadership to Engineering Assistants to include providing feedback on performance evaluations, time-keeping, management, and daily tasking in response to manufacturing/assembly requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience is required. Experience in a high volume, progressive assembly or manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience with new product introductions, process improvements, error proofing, tool and fixture design, project management, manual processes, semi-automated processes, automated processes, and cellular manufacturing is also preferred.
  • Knowledge of formal problem solving methodologies is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, & Outlook), as well as AutoCad and/or Pro-E and have the ability to develop presentations and communicate to management.
  • SAP, MS Project and Minitab experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and disciplined problem solving skills resulting in quality/process improvements.
  • Demonstrated successful project management skills.
