Job Description

About This RoleDue to continued growth and the introduction of new technologies across the site, we are looking for a qualified candidate to support the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Dept. in a GMP and Non-GMP environment. In this role you will be responsible for performing corrective and preventative calibrations on manufacturing and laboratory analytical instrumentation as well as supporting manufacturing and laboratory personnel in the use, maintenance and repair of on-site instrumentation and test equipment.

What You’ll Do

  • Performs corrective and preventative calibrations on manufacturing and laboratory analytical instrumentation
  • Supports manufacturing and laboratory personnel in the use, maintenance and repair of on-site instrumentation and test equipment
  • Performs unscheduled corrective calibrations and repairs
  • Coordinates on-site and off-site vendor/contractor actions related to the calibration and repair of critical and non-critical instrumentation
  • Must be able to perform with no instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
  • Author changes to procedures, instrumentation, and job plans
  • Installs new instrumentation and controls
  • Provides engineering & validation support
  • Investigates problematic equipment failures
  • Applicants will become trained and skilled in all unit operations in their area and performs most functions with minimal supervision.
  • Site (SME) subject matter expert on Instrumentation & Controls

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-motivated problem solver that is detail orientated with excellent documentation skills. You should enjoy working in a dynamic environment with different challenges to solve each day.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • AA/AS Degree with an emphasis in Electronics/Instrumentation; or a minimum of 7 years related experience and/or training (including military training)
  • Basic understanding in Pharmaceutical/Biotech cGMP requirements is necessary.
  • Considerable knowledge of the fundamental operating principles of industrial process instrumentation and systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Team player willing to learn from others and train entry level personnel.
  • Computer skill utilizing MS Office suite applications.
  • Basic knowledge of control system programming.
  • Basic knowledge of CMMS systems and architecture.
  • Must be willing to work in clean room environments.
  • This work requires occasionally climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, moving test equipment up to 50 lbs., as well as working in mechanical spaces to maintain a wide variety of equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical experience strongly
  • Start-up experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotech
  • Experience with Infor EAM calibration software
  • Occasionally requires work inside of classified clean rooms to include changing clothes to plant provided clean room clothing.
  • Proper adherence to cleaning practices and procedures are imperative to maintain product standards.
  • Detailed oriented with excellent documentation skills
  • Working in a small team while making smart decisions in a timely manner
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with Biogen’s Core Behaviors
