About This Role

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will provide high level support for Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) for the RTP Bio site. In this role you would support instrumentation and controls upgrades including design, development, project management and implementation. You would also develop and maintain site I&C standards. The I&C Engineer develops department best practices, identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives, drive solutions to I&C issues, and support instrumentation troubleshooting. In this role, you will also provide mentoring to the I&C technicians, along with providing support to department management as required.

What You’ll Do

· Identifies and resolves instrumentation engineering issues during manufacturing operations and project activities.

· Develops the scope and cost of instrumentation for small, medium and large projects.

· Assists with development groups on specification of new instrument related technologies.

Qualifications

Required Skills

· Education & Experience combination requirements:

o High School – 15+ years of relevant experience

o Military or ISA Certification – 10+ years of relevant experience

o Associates Degree – 10+ years of relevant experience

o Bachelor’s degree – 3+ years of relevant experience

· Ability to travel up to 10% for cross-site initiatives, training, and Factory Acceptance Testing.

Preferred Skills

· Experience in/with:

o engineering, construction , commissioning or validation of capital projects for the biopharm industry

o troubleshooting / investigating instrumentation and control issues.

o DeltaV, OSI Pi, Rockwell Automation PLCs / FactoryTalk , and the ability to program/configure these systems

o managing projects including directing contractors

o computerized maintenance management systems in a regulated biopharm environment

· Skills:

o ability to read and understand electrical and instrumentation drawings, loop diagrams, and instrument datasheets

o Working knowledge of equipment in the biotech/pharma industry.
