Job Description

At Eataly, a Beverage Director is also known as the General Manager of Beverage.

The General Manager of Beverageoversees the beverage operation for retail, restaurants and quick service counters at a single Eataly location. Reports directly to the Director of Store Operations and reports functionally to the Corporate Beverage Director.

  • Manages the beverage team: hires, assigns, trains, motivates, evaluates and terminates as necessary
  • Analyzes and forecasts beverage sales, manages a budget and evaluates the effectiveness of systems
  • Establishes vendor relationships and maintains professional rapport with distribution companies and suppliers
  • Partners with store leadership on strategies related to products, promotions, pricing, inventory and strategy
  • Collaborates with the Executive Chef and General Managers to plan menu items and pairings
  • Communicates with all departments to always be aware of product needs and objectives
  • Oversees beverage inventory and monitors shipments, valuation and margin control
  • Creates and manages product listings including roll-outs of new products and phase-outs of current products
  • Teaches beverage classes to employees and guests
  • Shares knowledge and appreciation for Italian food and beverage with all guests, providing excellent and responsible beverage service
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4+ years of progressively more responsible experience in Italian wine and beverage
  • 3+ years of experience managing in a high-volume restaurant environment
  • Excellent analytical and business management skills
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in wholesale wine and/or retail industries preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
