Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)-PRN

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares for testing by properly checking equipment and ensuring adequate supplies are on hand.
• Reviews patient's clinical data to facilitate understanding of why they have been referred for testing.
• Attempts to put patients at ease by ensuring their physical comfort and explaining the testing procedure, recommends sedation as appropriate.
• Performs peripheral and cerebral vascular Doppler examinations, including arterial studies of the upper and lower extremities, and carotid duplex scans.
• Provides test results and preliminary interpretations to Physicians.
• Maintains records and documentation for accreditation of Vascular Lab.
• Assists with training of other personnel as needed.
• Cleans and maintains all equipment.
• Schedules patients, answers telephone, and performs various clerical and other similar or less skilled duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
• Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing or walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range. May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Work Experience:

• Six (6) months experience as a registered vascular tech. Experience in the health field and general working knowledge of procedures and practices related to the Vascular Tech duties and responsibilities.

Complexity of Work:

• Maintains competencies specific to patient population served. Ability to do work requiring attention to detail to avoid inaccurate test results. Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with co-workers; willingness and capability to treat patients with courtesy and tact; and willingness to work in conjunction with physicians. Ability to utilize technical physiological test equipment.

Certifications:

• Current credentialing/licensure as Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or as Registered Vascular Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RVS) in the State of Ohio. Maintains required BLS.

Education:

• High school graduate or the equivalent required. Program completion of accredited school for Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
