OnSite Data Center Operations Support Engineer – Export Control Role ( or holders)

The individual filling this position will work closely with all members of the Datacenter Hands and Feet Team. This person will be an integral part for maintaining the integrity of the entire existing infrastructure, including installation of new equipment/devices, as well as working proactively to improve on our response time and issue resolution. The best candidate will have the ability to learn quickly.Essential requirements include good written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation, dependability, proactive thinking, flexibility, outgoing and friendly attitude, and the ability to communicate technical issues. Individual should have the ability to work independently with minimal direction and should show good skills in time management & multi-tasking.

Role:
  • Network / Fiber Cable installation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Hardware Installation/De-Installation (servers, router, firewalls, switches, etc.)
  • Basic Hardware Changes (i.e. PCI card replacements, HDD replacement, NIC’s, HBA’s, etc.)
  • Device Reboots
  • Vendor Escort / Monitoring
  • Customer / Support Team Communication
    • Status updates as required for changes / incidents on conference calls / emails / WebEx (instant messaging tool)
  • Incident Management – Basic device troubleshooting
  • Media Management
  • Inventory control
  • Audits
  • Monitor and support the team’s queue for change, incident, and problem management.

Required

Skills:
  • Setup, install, and proficiency in fiber and copper cabling.
o Physically installing and maintaining cabling connectivity within the facility including all areas of the building (datacenter, office areas, and mechanical areas)
  • The ability to install/de-install various types of hardware (servers, router, firewalls, switches, etc.).
  • High-level understanding / skills in various compute / network technologies including but not limited to:
o Operating Systems: e.g. Windows, UNIX, Linux etc.o Hardware: e.g. HP, Sun/Oracle, Dell, IBM, Cisco etc.o Networking: e.g. Switches / Routers / Firewalls / TAPs / Content Switches / LAN/WANo Must possess the knowledge and skill to test/troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling using the appropriate Fluke meters.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation for all work performed via the ticketing system
  • Keep the Datacenter environment structured, organized and well documented
  • Must be proficient in utilizing Windows tools such as Excel, Word, and other software packages as needed for documentation and project purposes.

Miscellaneous:
  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. weekends, holidays, night shifts, etc.).
  • Position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds chest high.
  • Position requires someone with good organizational skills, with the ability to work under stringent deadlines
