Description:Installation quality inspectors should have either material handling equipment installation experience, quality assurance / quality control experience, or continuous improvement experience in preferably the manufacturing field. This is a road warrior position where the candidate will be away from home most of the year working at distribution centers around the nation. The member will have the option to return home in between projects or once every 4-5 weeks for a weekend depending on the project length. The installation quality inspector main objective is to ensure that the installation of material handing equipment and conveyor systems in in compliance utilizing costumer standards, quality control/assurance methodology, and other performance metrics given to the inspection team. The inspection covers mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and safety components of the system. The day to day responsibilities include performing visual inspections on the conveyors and other system components logging the results in an inspection software application. The inspector will identify non-conformance issues such as broken or loose components as well as items that do not comply with the costumers manufacturing and assembly specifications. The inspection team will also test the equipment in terms of functionality to investigate whether there are any problems that could lead to downtime such as incorrect conveyor belt tracking and lacing, incorrect sideguard placement leading to package buildup and jams, or missing safety features that could cause user injury during operation. The installation quality inspector is also responsible for providing technical direction to the installation teams making corrections regarding the inspection failures. The candidates will not be making the corrections themselves, that is the responsibility of the costumer mechanical and electrical teams, so it is a very hands-off position. It also includes recommending improvements to the installation process to ensure quality control and document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records. Quality control knowledge such as six sigma, kaizen, cause and effect diagrams, statistical analysis is highly preferred but not required. Experience in process improvement in the construction or installation field would be highly beneficial. The candidate must be able to walk long distances and climb over/under the conveyors to inspect various components.
