Job Description: Software Architects are responsible for designing, proving, and implementing many facets of our software offerings, including our API, internal TMS, our client facing portals and apps, and other internal systems. They are responsible for leveraging new and existing cloud technologies, data modeling, and database development. Software Architects work on a team with other like-minded, forward-thinking engineers, and we collaborate in-person, in meetings, and online. Our Software Architects must have broad experience with other frameworks and languages, but they will be experts in PHP, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL.

Position Responsibilities
  • Architect, prototype, develop, test, and maintain complex software systems including microservices, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Messaging/Event Queues, Authentication/Security.
  • Balance objectives of performance, reliability, de-coupling, consistency, maintainability, extensibility and configurability in solutions.
  • Plan, document, propose, and execute proofs-of-concept.
  • Assist with development of DevOps solutions, such as Docker, Gitlab Pipelines, and Kubernetes.
  • Help develop IT's cloud strategy.
  • Assist in jumpstarting projects across Scrum Teams.
  • Serve as a point of reference or escalation for technical issues that may arise with projects or applications.
  • Develop software scripts for deploying and upgrading frontend and backend software systems.
  • Propose design concepts for next generation products.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to engineers.
  • Staying current with changing technical trends in the logistics industry, especially those most relevant to 3PLs and potential data/integration partners.

Requirements:
  • College degree in a technical or related field and 5-7 years professional level experience; or 9+ years professional level related technical experience.
  • Expert at PHP (Laravel), HTML, JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL, Kafka, stored procedures, DB Tracing, DB profiling/SQL Profiler, impact analysis, DB development, and Web Services (SOAP, REST), Nginx, WebSockets, cloud services.
  • Experience integrating 3rd-party APIs and working with vendors to solve development issues.
  • Work with infrastructure and software development teams to research and develop innovative solutions.
  • Apply advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, infrastructure design, project management, and other related disciplines/processes.
  • Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly as the needs of the company evolve.

Nice-To-Have:
  • Expert in software deployment, DevOps, and scalability in the cloud or datacenter.
  • Experience working in an Event Sourcing microservices environment utilizing Kafka or similar packages.
  • Experience using the CQRS pattern in a distributed datastore system utilizing tools such as ksqlDB, GraphQL, etc.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar.
