Requisition Number: 84061 The Data and AI Practice Manager is a technical leader within Insight's Digital Innovation (DI) division. The Practice Manager drives the adoption of our data services and is involved in the full consulting services lifecycle (selling through delivery). We are looking for an experienced Practice Manager (Managing Architect) with in-depth, hands-on knowledge of full-stack cloud solutions including data services, architectures and data tools. Through the recruitment, support, and management of a team of data scientists, engineers, architects and thought leaders, this person will drive the delivery of technologies that optimize and streamline our data services delivery. The candidate will also work closely with client stakeholders and the Insight team to build next-generation solutions in advanced analytics, big data and BI. What you'll do:
  • You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Great Lakes Region of our Data and AI team based in Columbus Ohio, in addition to being a technical leader of large and complex service accounts. The decisions you and your team make will impact profitability, scope attainment, and/or client satisfaction.
  • You will manage the operational activities of the data team while constantly helping to grow the market, identify new opportunities, as well as drive sales and solutions to customers. This includes but is not limited to maintaining P&Ls, utilization reports, forecasting, and other operational functions will also be a part of your day to day workload.
  • You will hold internal and client-facing status meetings, monthly updates, and quarterly meetings that reports on performance, issues, and continuous improvement. To ensure client satisfaction you will work closely with the sales team to discuss business development, review current opportunities, and execute strategy.

What you'll need:
  • 15+ total years industry experience
  • 10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with hands on solution development
  • 3+ years of experience as an Architect
  • 3+ years of professional hands on experience with Azure, AWS, and/or other cloud providers
  • 3+ years of experience building and managing Professional Services organizations
  • Familiarity with many of the technologies below are a plus:
    • Data warehousing, ETL/ELT and in-memory/cube use cases and patterns
    • Microsoft data stack: SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, PowerBI, etc.
    • Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Lake Analytics
    • Big Data technologies such as Hadoop or HDInsight, Hive, Pig, Python, Spark, Oozie, or any of the other tools with the Hadoop ecosystem
    • solutions to our client base. Build and maintain executive management level relationships within Insight, our clients and our partners.

Essential duties:
  • Provide management and oversight of Data and AI Solutions operational delivery processes through Insight resources and partner resources.
  • Participate in the approval process for statements of work, solution proposals, pricing schematics and overall client facing solutions.
  • Work closely with the Service Sales and Client Solution teams to drive Data & AI solutions within client accounts.
  • Develop and document the Data & AI strategy to be utilized by all Insight Client Solution delivery teams.
  • Contribute to and assure that Insight solution methodologies are being utilized and improved upon within each geographic region.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships within Insight, its customers and partners.
  • Support of all Data & AI services pre-sales activities (conference calls, on-site client meetings, etc.) with the sales teams, including: identifying, qualifying, pricing and overseeing the delivery of lifecycle solutions to the various areas.
  • Responsible for communicating the Data & AI capabilities and solution strategies available to each area through the effective management of Data & AI offerings, partners and operational delivery to meet the established service levels and client objectives.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with other national practices and the field service delivery teams to build synergies and enhance service delivery capabilities in each area and nationally.
  • Mentor and motivate solution sales personnel.
  • Accountable for monthly service revenue forecasts and budget attainment.
  • Drive recognition of Data & AI Solutions within Area branch offices.
  • Accountable for working with Area Directors to drive service sales budget goals for each geographical area (revenue and gross profit).
  • Create and implement a strong business plan, to be reviewed quarterly.
  • Meet with sales teammates on a quarterly basis.
  • Work closely to establish business relationships with various OEM's to drive leads for account executives.
  • Assist sales executives with building strategies for their "high-profile accounts" that will build client trust.
  • Team with peers to actively pursue new business. Follow-up with the account executives to assist them with closing deals and managing appropriate resources to create a solution.
  • Provide input and feedback to the Field Marketing team on the content of major proposals and presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of the reseller channel and information technology market.
  • Must work to maintain superior communication skills.
  • Participate in the management and creation of Field Services opportunities

  • Understand the business needs of clients/prospects at a CEO/CIO level down to an individual worker and be able to create customized solutions for customers/prospects.
  • Read, analyze and interpret general business/professional journals, technical procedures or regulations.
  • Write scopes of work, proposals, reports and/or business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, Boards of Directors, groups of managers, clients and other Insight teammates.
  • Create complex pricing models to support the profitable sales of Lifecycle Solutions opportunities.
  • Read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents as well as respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Write using original or innovative techniques or style and make effective and/or persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and/or Boards of Directors of companies.
