  • Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with exams. Scans all required documentation into RIS system. Compiles exam for reading by radiologist.
  • Identifies, transports, lifts, and positions patients for exams. Communicates with patients throughout exam.
  • Critiques exam for film quality and proper identification. Documents reasons for any variation in procedure.
  • Evaluates patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms for signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect, and reports finding to radiologist or staff physician.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedure and patient care. Documents reasons for any variation in procedure.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of equipment/safety problems.
  • Performs receptionist functions and clerical duties, film filing and purging. Maintains cleanliness of room; stocks supplies.
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains required CPR (BLS).
  • Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display ID badge, and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High school graduate or the equivalent. Graduate of a formal program of study accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the AMA, or completion of didactic and clinical experience.

Certifications:

  • Current Ohio RT (R) (ARRT).
  • Registry in an additional specialty preferred.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Radiology, the Technologist, Radiology is responsible for performing diagnostic procedures on patients using radiation to examine body structures and tissue.
