Reporting to the Vice President - Parts, the Business Unit Manager – Parts will operate as the division’s recognized central authority on product management, marketing, pricing, channel development, and all other business matters related to parts sales growth. This position will require a high-energy, results driven individual that is equipped to take on P&L responsibility for the Parts division, develop strategic business plans, and oversee performance and productivity of functional personnel to achieve results. Applicants must have proven ability to create and sustain an environment that supports shared risk-taking, along with the ability to discern when a deep dive into the business is necessary to drive actions to achieve results. The selected individual will also be responsible for directing and managing all business resources to successfully deliver results for all markets, segments, and product families for parts. This leader will drive and motivate a team of strong performers to establish and implement parts price and promotion programs and policies that increase parts sales and profitability, and is responsible for developing, proposing, implementing, and reviewing programs to establish strategic partnerships with key channel partners in support of the Food Equipment Group and Division’s revenue growth objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The FEG Parts business is positioned for strong market growth. The Business Unit Manager (BUM) will be responsible for developing and executing a growth plan to significantly increase the ITW/FEG parts market penetration. This leader is responsible for the overall profitability of the entire business unit (comprehensive P&L accountability), drives customer focus, and continuous improvement, and leads the creation of sales, marketing and product development strategies for the business translating the strategy into market share gains and profitable revenue growth. This is a critical leadership role for the parts business, and is responsible to provide leadership, guidance, and direction to achieve the business key deliverables working through their direct reports. Key deliverables for the Parts BUM are:

  • Drive Revenue Growth: Responsible for creation and implementation of business development objectives and strategies. Provide direct influence and leadership for the North American parts market through all sales channels (Hobart Branch sales, Distribution sales, Equipment Dealer sales, Service Contractor Sales, and sales through the Hobart on-line parts store. Develop and maintain performance metrics for all parts sales channels to create focus and drive continuous improvement. Prepare aftermarket parts financial plan and monthly orders and shipments outlook. Achieve outlook for sales and margin goals. Partners with Equipment and Service Sales Management to develop relevant, timely and successful sales plans, campaigns, programs, and special promotions to drive parts revenue growth.
  • Drive Strategic Parts Product Management: Provide leadership and direction to implement overall parts product portfolio management solutions. Analyze, recommend, and implement parts solutions, marketing initiatives, and incentive programs that enhance business growth and profitability including but not limited to:
    • ITW/FED OEM parts sales incentive program
    • Recommended parts stocking lists
    • Repair and maintenance Parts Kits
    • Parts marketing communications
  • Manage overall parts product development and marketing initiatives. Leads theidentification of market trends and opportunities, and tailor product developmentand product enhancement activities to satisfy market needs and capitalize onexisting opportunities. Drives high level marketing initiatives and product launches.Responsible for ensuring seamless product launches and the ensuing life cycle.
  • Develop and Maintain Market and Industry Analysis: Lead research initiatives to better understand parts competitiveness, market share, and distributor-dealer performance helping to influence development of future products and services and business growth. Develop and manage a complete library of competitive intelligence related to Parts for ITW/FEG equipment. Develop a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model for parts. Effectively research market and industry trends providing critical intelligence for strategic planning. Develop a Total Market Potential Model to understand overall market size and available “white space” to grow parts sales. Effectively translate data points into charts, tables, v-look up analysis and strategic presentations to provide business justification for growth objectives, initiatives, and investments. Develop voice-of-the-customer (VOC) events to prioritize tactical and strategic initiatives driving customer focused solutions. Collect and document the Voice of the Business (VOB) to address needs for internal customers and process partners including equipment groups, service sales, national accounts, and Hobart Service branch offices.
  • Drive Strategic Channel Management: Effectively manage the aftermarket parts distribution, dealer, ISP, and Service Branch network to influence part demand and support business growth with a focus in marketing, training, and product specification. Main face-to-the-customer contact to support distribution and dealer network with product, process, promotions, and training. Become a liaison between Parts main strategic plan and our customer’s needs. Provide leadership parts marketing campaign development and implementation. Leverage Hobart service branches and service contractors to implement growth campaigns.
  • Provide a positive customer service experience for all Hobart Parts Customers: Provide leadership and support to the Customer Care team responsible for receiving, processing, investigating, and resolving incoming inquiries from our customers, both internal and external. Motivate the team through coaching, career planning and setting development objectives. Be engaged with shifting key customer trends, so as to provide input to forecasting and planning requirements. Ensure appropriate resources are available to meet changing requirements and volume to meet performance objectives. Develop, recommend, and implement system enhancements designed at streamlining processes with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Manage Parts Pricing: Work through Product Line Management to prepare, solicit approval for, and implement parts pricing programs to respond to channel partner needs while achieving or exceeding revenue and margin expectations. Develop and maintain written price policies to enable accurate administration of price strategies. Ensure competitive prices for branded parts are tracked and maintained current to optimize ITW/FEG parts prices within the range of market acceptability. Monitor margins on parts with the objective to proactively identify signs of margin erosion on monthly margin report, investigate, and drive action to resolve.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a management or leadership role.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Master’s in business administration (MBA) is preferred, but not required.
