This position will lead the development of infotainment software with a focus on head unit software, creating a top-class infotainment platform that applies to numerous future influential models simultaneously.Accountabilities:

  • Direct the selected software integration partner suppliers to design and manage the software to maturation. 20%
  • Perform actual hands-on testing that may include developing unique requirements to system components and vehicle testing to guarantee product performance. 15%
  • Write clear and concise reports, presentations and/or technical documents to make a record of the development activities, communicating directly with Technical Experts. 15%
  • Analyze/interpret test results, predict performance/failure and provide required product/design data. 10%
  • Support maturation testing to cover different configurations of components to ensure all variations work correctly. 10%
  • Write, develop and issue specification requirements for system components. 10%
  • Effectively communicate the development schedule and report status of component functions to different company areas/departments. 5%
  • Recognize and specify critical function requirements (hardware, software & communication) for infotainment system components to match customer demands. 5%
  • Research and influence the future path and trends of infotainment system architecture, features/functions, and efficient development methods. 5%
  • Assess the marketplace demands with a competitive viewpoint of infotainment system component requirements. 5%
Potential Tasks:
  • Become generally familiar with the Android stack that will be distributed by Honda
  • Locate flagged OSS in the source tree and determine:
  • how the flagged OSS is used in compiled Android stack;
  • how the flagged OSS interacts or is combined with proprietary Honda code; and
  • whether and to what extent flagged OSS has been modified by integration partners
  • Review and document build process for Android stack
  • Review and confirm general accuracy and sufficiency of technical documentation provided by integration partners
  • Supplement documentation to assist Honda technical teams in the event wants or needs to assume build responsibility
  • Assist legal with preparation of corresponding source code to be provided or made available to Honda owners including:
  • Collect the corresponding source code for flagged OSS packages from the source tree and (for GPL/LGPL) any build information that may be required
  • Prepare the source code archive (e.g., a tarball) that will be distributed or made available
Experience:
  • Candidate should have experience in project management (setting & managing schedules, meeting deadlines, directing other groups to achieve development goals, etc.).
  • Minimum of a basic understanding in Android OS environment.
  • Candidate should have experience in software and automotive infotainment (IVI) system development. IVI experience preferred but not required Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software).Knowledge of MatLab or Labview would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bamboo and Stash) preferred. Training available
  • Ability to use common electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, ESD equipment, etc.) required
  • Ideal candidate should have strong experience and interest in one of the following three areas: Software Development, Network Communication, or QA (Quality Assurance)/Validation.
Should:
  • Have experience with building/assembling Android (or Linux) software stacks
  • Be able to determine:
  • where OSS source code flagged in a source tree is used in a compiled Android stack
  • how the compiled OSS code interacts with proprietary code included in an Android stack
Ideally:
  • Have experience building/assembling embedded Android (or Linux) stacks
  • Be able to determine whether and to what extent flagged OSS source code packages have been modified integration partners
  • Be able to assess the general functionality or purpose of changes of interest made by integration partners
  • Can help assess the engineering costs or options for potential remediation projects (e.g., engineering hours or cost of replacing an OSS library of concern)
