Job Description

Perform duties to set up and operate a number of different computerized numerical controlled machine tools to perform a wide range of turning, drilling, milling, and tapping on precision machined components in a work-cell environment. Follow quality and safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work from process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets, setup cards, machine status boards, and verbal as well as written instructions to tight tolerances.
  • Setup, operate and run multiple 3 axis CNC milling machines at one time.
  • Familiar with Fanuc controls and Doosan and Mori Seiki vertical 3 axis style mills with 4th axis rotary table/collet indexer - 5 axis (3+2) milling knowledge is a plus
  • Setup, operate and run dual turret, dual spindle mill with Fanuc controls
  • Can program, set up tooling, work holding, and make offsets.
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances (.0002” to .0005”) with reaming, boring and interpolation milling.
  • Inspect first piece and in-process pieces to ensure parts are to specification or drawing.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality expectations and hitting daily production goals.
  • Complete all related paperwork - work orders, inspection documents, and tracking sheets as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with Rexnord policies, 5S procedures, and in line with Rexnord core values.
  • Performing a wide range of machining operations within tight tolerances.
  • Adjust offset coordinates to compensate for materials, tooling, or machine center conditions.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Will be required to train less experienced machinists.
  • Set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration as required.
  • Work with supervisor, engineer & support teams to resolve problem situations as required.
  • Inspect own work for correct dimensions and ensure that company quality and quantity standards are maintained and complete required documentation. Will be required to inspect the work of other machinists.
  • Work with new product development team to assist with design for manufacturability.
  • Rotate between various department work centers as required and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Enters data into ERP system.
  • Support continuous improvement/RBS activities.

Qualifications

  • A technical degree and/or at least 3-5 years’ experience CNC Milling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journeyman status with 5 axis (3+2) milling knowledge a plus.
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of various metals and related cutting tools.
  • Accurately read and comprehend complex blueprints and related GD&T callouts, work instructions, AS9100 Quality procedures, etc, and sometimes using advanced shop math skills including trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring tools used in machining processes.
  • Ability to select and adjust appropriate tools and materials to attain demanding standards in different work situations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to solve unique problems that are diversified and involved.
  • Creativity and sound judgment to adapt standard practices and principles to meet new conditions.
  • Advanced skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and work instructions in English required.
  • External candidates will be required to pass a Machinist test which measures mechanical aptitude.
  • Moderate physical demand required to insert tooling, set up work centers, inspect workpieces and make machine adjustments, which is equivalent to continuously lifting or moving light weight material. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and stand during your shift.
