Job Number: 1134 The Riverside Research Engineering and Support Solutions (ESS) Division conducts Research and Development (R&D) of cyber-physical attacks against embedded systems. The RF Research Engineer will perform theoretical and hands-on work to study electromagnetic emissions from microelectronic devices. They will use RF measurement equipment, analog and digital signal processing techniques, and custom analysis software to test embedded systems in a laboratory environment. This position is located at WPAFB, OH with travel expected two to four times a year. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. Job Responsibilities - Configures and operates RF test equipment to capture emissions from microelectronic devices
- Implements signal filtering and amplification for optimal signal collection
- Develops custom digital signal processing techniques in software
- Studies cyber-physical threats to embedded systems published in scientific journals and presented at conferences
- Documents findings in technical reports and presentations
- Collaborates with hardware security researchers
- Coordinates with laboratory manager to acquire RF components and instrumentation
- Other duties as required
Required Qualifications - Active DoD Top Secret (TS) or equivalent US Government security clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in applied signal processing or RF testing
- Strong understanding of signal processing theory
- Software programming experience using either Python, C, or equivalent language
- Excellent organizational, engineering, and communications skills
- Able to work individually and as a member of a team
- Willing to work in a secure US Government facility
- Interest in solving open-ended problems
Desired Qualifications - MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience with embedded hardware (VHDL, Verilog) or software (C, Assembly)
- Statistical signal processing experience or course work
- Experience using RF design or simulation software
