Job Summary:

The Project Designer is a safety sensitive position that is responsible for providing drafting/design services for all in-house engineering projects. This person will assist all engineers in project/scope development and be proficient in obtaining all appropriate measurements in the field needed to develop 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design drawings of piping and equipment layouts as well as assist in maintaining existing E/I drawings and Civil/Structural drawings. Additionally, this position will collaborate with engineers throughout CF Industries to share best practices and execute a world class engineering program at the Verdigris Complex.

Position Overview:

The Project Designer is a safety sensitive position that is responsible for providing drafting/design services for all in-house engineering projects. This person will assist all engineers in project/scope development and be proficient in obtaining all appropriate measurements in the field needed to develop 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design drawings of piping and equipment layouts as well as assist in maintaining existing E/I drawings and Civil/Structural drawings. Additionally, this position will collaborate with engineers throughout CF Industries to share best practices and execute a world class engineering program at the Verdigris Complex.

What you'll do - Example Activities:

P rovide piping, mechanical/civil/structural and electrical/instrument design services to Engineering, Maintenance and Operations:

Work with Engineering, Maintenance and Operations to clearly define the scope of the project.
  • Develop project specific P&ID mark-ups required for health and safety review.
  • Develop piping isometrics, specify structural supports, minor foundations and other drawings required to assemble design and construction packages
  • Assist in maintaining/updating basic E/I drawings such as Electrical One-Lines, Area Classification, Instrument Loop drawings, etc.
  • Perform field work as needed to complete design and construction packages.
  • Update all existing documentation to reflect changes and reference existing documentation to any new documentation.
  • Verify proper fabrication and installation of design and construction drawings in the field as needed.

Support Management of Change process by ensuring all drawings are accurately updated to reflect field changes after projects.

Provides a good knowledge and understanding of CF design specifications including piping, valves. Recommends improvements to maintain a safe and world class facility.

Actively participates in turnaround and/or plant shutdown activities by supporting piping and mechanical designs, electrical and instrument designs, and field support.

Participate in the Excavation Safety Program (Digging Permit)
  • Supports technical review process for excavation permit issuance.
  • communicate potential hazards with parties involved in underground work.
  • Maintains and updates site underground drawings by documenting observations from routine excavations.

Maintain files and records concerning engineering projects and equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Key Job Elements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Associates or Technical degree in design or drafting related field.
  • Experience in a production, manufacturing or plant environment subject to the OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation.
  • Candidate to have a minimum ten (10) years of experience.
  • Solid communication skills including the ability to effectively converse in English, compose written documents and interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Familiar with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Preferred Experience:
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and CADWorx.and/or Plant 3D. Experience with the engineering, procurement, and construction of small capital projects
