General Clerk II FLSA Status:Non-Exempt (SCA) Shift:1stShift: Tuesday – Saturday (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM) Work Location:CMS – Lawton, OK This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The General Clerk selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task. Recognized problems are referred to others. Answers inquiries regarding policies and procedures, assists the public and staff in filling out forms, and provides information to the public by mail or phone. Opens and distributes incoming mail and prepares mail-outs. Posts information to agency records and modifies forms or records. Produces and proofs correspondence, reports, purchase orders, summaries, manuals, vouchers, records, and other related forms. Required Skills and Experience:One-year customer service and six (6) months clerical experience. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. Education beyond high school completion will substitute for experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures; of office procedures; and of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic. Skill in using personal computer, office equipment and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports; to type accurately at a speed consistent with work requirements. Ability to work independently, perform as a self-starter and meet critical deadlines. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively and professionally with agency personnel. Ability to operate photocopier. Work is generally performed in a normal office environment where there is minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Job assignments may require working at client site where working conditions may vary. Travel may be required. Other Requirements Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret standard documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and speak effectively before groups, customers or employees of organization. Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret information. Reasoning Ability:Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions dealing with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word,Excel and Access. Must also have expertise in using SharePoint. Work Environment:Work is performed in an office environment with low noise level. Physical Demands:Employee will have regular visual contact with a computer monitor.
