Description

Expertise and Functions
  • Evaluate and approve aerospace source approval packages
  • Apply technical requirements to sourcing characteristics
  • Apply engineering source approval policies and procedures for the evaluation of aerospace components (to include propulsion systems) and equipment
  • Evaluate potential reverse engineer projects and determine form/fit/function
  • Ensure the congruency and accuracy of the engineering and acquisition data
  • Ensure Technical Data Packages are current and if data rights are available
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the competitive status of targeted
  • Identify and report in the MSR when qualification requirements are within three (3) months of expiring
  • Report findings of any obsolete parts
  • Incorporate market research information in order to facilitate the assessment of the feasibility and long-term supportability of current acquisition competitive status
  • Assist with the review of and provide comments on engineering drawings and specifications to identify deficiencies and recommendations for specific AF component parts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Education/Training (both required and desired):
    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline required
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of professional experience in the required task area
    • Aerospace experience preferred

  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience with evaluation of source approval packages from manufacturing and repair sources using Manufacturer Qualification Requirements (MQRs) and Repair Qualification Reports (RQRs)
    • Experience with MS Visio and MS Project
    • Engineering expertise, spanning the range of aerospace parts used by the aerospace industry
    • Specialized knowledge of industry sources, people, capabilities, and resource utilization when normal engineering analysis does not identify a resolution to qualification problem
    • Experience in cross-referencing OEM specification requirements into industrial specifications
    • Experience in locating new sources for manufacture or repair
    • Experience in the evaluation or application of reverse engineering efforts
    • Expertise with the AF or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) maintenance concepts for propulsion/aerospace component parts
    • Other duties as required
    • Security:
      • Must be a US citizen
      • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
