Facilitates comprehensive quality patient care by optimizing patient flow and assisting medical staff with patient care. With policies and direction, provides a broad range of duties including but not limited to, administrative and clinical functions within their scope of practice and training.Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.AdministrativeWorks in reception.Answers telephones.Registers patients.Files health records.Telephones prescriptions to pharmacy.Sends Letters.ClinicalEscorts patients to exam rooms.Carries out patient history interviews.Takes and records vital signs and body measurements.Prepares patient for physical examination.Provides patient information/instructions.Assists with medical examinations/surgical procedures.Sets up/cleans exam rooms.Maintains inventory.Restocks supplies in patient rooms.Administers immunizations (only if supervising physician is present within the facility & competency is documented).Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and/or performs laboratory tests.Removes sutures.Changes dressings.Notifies patients of laboratory results but does not interpret them.Gives prevention reminders.Prepares/Administers oral/intramuscular medications as ordered (If administratively supervised by a physician & competency is documented).Performs EKGs.Adheres to professional and ethical standards.Other duties may be assigned. One year certificate from college or technical school; or one and one-half years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.At least six months experience in a related field.Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
