Spirit AeroSystems focuses on affordable, innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions to support customers around the globe.ResponsibilitiesThe RoleIn this role, the ideal candidate will utilize Non-Destructive inspection methods (liquid penetrant, eddy current, ultrasonic, radiography, and leak test) to verify parts and processes are in compliance with customer engineering requirements.Key Accountabilities

Responsible for using analysis techniques to evaluate the properties of a materials, components or systems without causing damage.

Set-up and standardize NDI equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.

Establish techniques from approved general procedure or work instructions for final approval.

Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards.

Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees.

Perform audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiate and document any non-conformances according to specification, process and procedures.

Interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control NDT methods. Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility, equipment and staff.

Prepare, verify and approve procedures and work instruction for technical adequacy. Provide training, examination, and certification of personnel.

Perform audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiate and document any non-conformances according to specification, process and procedures.

Developing, qualifying and approving procedures.

Establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures, as well as designating the particular NDT methods.

Responsible for the NDT operations for which he/she is qualified and assigned. Should be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards and specifications.

Sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available.

Should have a general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by ASNT.

As a certified Level III, should be capable of training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for certification in those methods.

QualificationsSkills and ExperienceRequired Skills

At least 3 years of NDI experience is required.

Must pass a general, specific and practical examination.

Basic computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft office, with a good level of knowledge/experience with Excel is required.

Preferred SkillsAt least 5-7 Years of experience in Aerospace is preferred.Educational Requirements

Current NDT Level III Ultrasonic Testing [UT] Certification is required.

Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Other

This is a 1st Shift position. However, this position requires the ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and alternative work weeks.

Experience working with a labor union in a manufacturing environment is desirable, but not required.
