Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.Location/DivisionHillsboro, Oregon, US/Materials & Structural Analysis Division (MSD)How will you make an impact?Field Service Engineer II is responsible for the repair and maintenance of electron microscopes and focused ion beam systems for the BU, Apps Dev & R&D departments.What will you do?Adhering to a preventative maintenance plans as well as rapid troubleshooting and repair of failed systems.

Provides onsite installation of instruments, upgrades, updates through successful completion of SAT

Perform PM’s to documented schedule while being flexible on changing priorities.

Providing appropriate input in writing, updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentation.

System hardware upgrades including the testing, documentation of bugs/issues and system verification.

System software upgrades including the testing, documentation of bugs/issues and system verification.

Executing appropriate material transactions (parts ordering, parts return, etc

Responsible for the overall condition of the engineering cleanroom & NPD lab using the 5S process (clean-up and organization) assuring good operational functionality for the numerous stakeholders

Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance

Successfully complete technical training, as required

How will you get here?Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and electronics, computer science, physics, or similar field

2 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred

Typically requires approximately 2+ years hands on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating complex analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, Prober, or similar systems.

Typically requires a thorough understanding and extensive experience troubleshooting and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesSelf-starter who is also highly productive when not supervised.

Strong hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance skills, preferably with complex capital equipment.

Ability to use and understand results from general electrical test equipment (i.e. DVM and Oscilloscope).

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.

Strong mechanical ability for installing or replacing delicate electro-mechanical assemblies.

Excellent organizational and tactical decision-making skills involved with keeping capital equipment in a production-ready state.

Ability to interact successfully with technical and non-technical members of cross- functional project teams.

Typically requires a thorough understanding and extensive experience troubleshooting and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.

Good computer skills.

The ability to maintain a somewhat flexible work schedule.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift 30 lbs.
