POSITION TITLE: Nanny / Personal Assistant
LOCATION: Bend Oregon
HOURS PER WEEK: starting at 15-20 hrs/week, typically Mon, Wed, Thurs 9 – 1 , Tues 9 – 5 (can be somewhat flexible)
COMPENSATION: Starting at $15/hour
START DATE: Flexible start date for the right candidate. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
POSITION OVERVIEW
A warm, fun and very busy family of three is seeking a part-time nanny / personal assistant. Brook is our 1 year old son and your primary responsibility will be to care for him, prepare his meals, keep him safe, maintain his nap schedule, and play with him when he’s not napping as he still requires almost constant attention at this age. He is fun and energetic and will keep you very busy. He typically takes two naps per day, the first around 10am and sleeps for 1-2 hrs. During that time you will help with some general house work including laundry folding, meal prep, ect.
We are building a small business and will often be working from home, aside from Tuesdays, when I work at my office for either a full or half day and you may be on your own with Brook if his Dad is in meetings or on a job site. Some weeks Brook’s grandma will be staying at our house and caring for Brook. On those weeks, since you won’t be spending as much time caring for Brook, you will do more house work and some errands such as grocery shopping as well. There may also be some errands and tasks related to our business for the right candidate if it would be a good fit for them.
The ideal person for this position will be dependable, honest and professional, with integrity and a strong work ethic. They will have experience working with toddlers, a kind, calm and patient demeanor, with a flexible, adaptable approach. They will be proactive in seeking out and completing household duties as needed. They will possess the ability to take direction, follow instructions and pay attention to detail. They will be happy to work as part of a team and bring a positive attitude.
This could turn into a long term and full time position for the right candidate.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Clean and organize Brook’s room and play spaces
-Engage in developmentally-appropriate creative play and educational games/activities/outings including free play, arts and crafts, music, and talking and reading with him.
-Minimize screen time
-Balance safe supervision with allowing for unsupervised, unstructured, self-guided play
-Assist us with enforcing clear, consistent and fair expectations, boundaries and rules
-Identify potential illness or injury (e.g., fevers, colds, emergencies) and notify us
- Avoid the use of personal cell phone, tablet or computer during work hours, except when necessary.
- Observe a high standard of COVID-19 safety protocols
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
-1 year + of previous private nanny experience, including toddler care
-Higher education and/or training in early childhood development/education is a plus, but high school diploma is a minimum
-Up-to-date certifications in infant and child First Aid/CPR are required but may be obtained as training prior to position start
-Excellent and verifiable references from current and/or previous employers
-Must be a non-smoker (including vaping/e-cigarettes)
-Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, auto insurance, and a safe driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-The ability to safely lift, move, push and pull 40 pounds regularly
-The ability to ascend and descend stairs of a two-story home
-Be able to react and move quickly as necessary to care for a toddler
