Caregiver for a 20 year old disabled girl. Duties included babysitting, dressing, assisting in movement, assisting her in walking, keeping her company, bathing, laundry and tube feeding. She rides the city bus with help, goes to the gym, goes to stores, etc. She does not have behavior issues, but she is nonverbal and likes going out to places and being read to or watching TV.
$18 an hour to start, $24 an hour when trained and certified (about 3 weeks), 1-3 dollar and hour raise after 60 days.
Most people who work with her are college students (who can study on the job), people looking for extra income and some who will sleep over and monitor her at night. I prefer part-time individuals who have set shifts and set hours. If you work regularly there are benefits, PTO and raises. You must be over 18, able to lift 40 pounds, have your own transportation, pass a background check and be a non-smoker (she is allergic to smoke and vape). Experience with special needs is helpful but not required.
