Yard Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: La Pine Sunriver ReStore — 52684 HWY 97, La Pine, OR 97739
Reports To: Store Manager/Assistant Manager
Anticipated Schedule:
28 hours a week
9am-2pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
9am-5:30pm on Sundays
The Yard Assistant plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional ReStore customer experience while supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. This role ensures a safe, organized, and customer-friendly environment both in the yard and within the store.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide outstanding customer service, greeting visitors, assisting with questions, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Maintain thorough knowledge of merchandise location and functionality, assisting customers with selection and product information.
Help meet daily sales goals by communicating regularly with the Manager on Duty and ensuring customer needs are met.
Organize, move, and transport materials and supplies throughout the yard and store efficiently.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly yard and store environment at all times.
Assist with donation intake, processing, and placing merchandise on the sales floor when requested.
Communicate effectively with management regarding sales opportunities and inventory needs.
Follow all safety policies and procedures required by the Habitat ReStore and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Support sales efforts by keeping merchandise accessible, properly displayed, and ready for customers.
Provide prompt service to customers as requests arise.
Meet productivity and/or sales benchmarks as requested by management.
Respond to customer service concerns professionally; immediately escalate concerns when necessary.
Perform additional duties as assigned, including answering phones and assisting with merchandise scheduling.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Strong customer service skills and alignment with the Habitat for Humanity mission.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work variable hours, including weekends.
A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with initiative and integrity.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds; navigate stairs, doorways, and varied terrain.
Work performed in indoor/outdoor environments with adequate lighting and ventilation.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Ability to pass pre-employment, and possible random, drug testing.
