We are looking for a creative, experienced website designer to join our small, family-run company (there are four of us!). We work with authors to finish, publish, and promote their books, and among other services, we build beautiful websites to feature their work. Our approach to author websites is very artistic and we pride ourselves in our ability to express the essence of our clients and their work in creative ways online.
We’re looking for someone with a background in graphic design, who also has experience in website development. We build all our sites in a Wordpress environment, using a theme called Divi. While applicants don’t need experience in Divi, they will ideally be comfortable with Wordpress. We are looking for someone with an artist’s eye, design expertise, and an ability to listen to and capture the essence of each of our client’s through the use of color, shape, and imagery. Experience with the more technical side of web development (knowledge of php, css, Wordpress file structures, optimizing techniques, etc.) is also a plus, but necessarily a requirement. We are looking for someone with an ability to troubleshoot common technical challenges, and a high attention to detail.
We work intimately with our clients to bring their websites to life, so the ideal candidate will also have good communication skills, a willingness to collaborate, and be able to accept feedback constructively. Client relations and account management will be handled by other members of our company, and this position will report to the COO.
This is a work-from-home position, but we'd like to be able to meet in person from time to time at our home office (as is appropriate with social distancing guidelines, etc). The hours will fluctuate between 15-30 hours per week depending on the company's workload, and we are looking for someone who has a flexible, adaptable schedule.
