Mennonite Village, a premiere not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in Oregon's beautiful Mid-Willamette Valley, is seeking a Part Time Volunteer & Activities Coordinator to support our Wellness department and Volunteer program by organizing the recruitment, retention, and recognition of the volunteer and internship programs. Shift: Days- 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

—¦Recruits, screens, and assigns volunteers to appropriate opportunities, with the approval of staff who need volunteer support.

—¦Represents Mennonite Village volunteer opportunities, including the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies and materials needed to promote the volunteer program.

—¦Organizes and implements volunteer recognition events.

—¦Inputs and maintains accurate volunteer records of the following: TB testing, background fitness report, records of volunteers (such as name, address, phone number, skills, interests, and hours available), tracking volunteer hours, list of volunteer job descriptions, and records that volunteers have completed necessary paperwork and screenings.

—¦Provides updated information to active volunteers on an annual basis.

—¦Provides support to both campus Gift Shops; including overseeing the purchasing, staffing and scheduling.

—¦Coordinates, communicates and conducts recreational activities for residents focusing on the dimensions of wellness (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental).

—¦Coordinates and may conduct educational presentations for residents and staff.

—¦Coordinates with campus care areas to ensure that programs and activities are accessible to residents and staff (where appropriate).

—¦Fosters campus wide partnerships to include, but not limited to, marketing, care area activity departments, dining services and employee wellness.

—¦Fosters community partnerships to promote volunteerism, internships and employment opportunities with local schools, including, but not limited to, LBCC, OSU, and local High Schools.

—¦Maintains resident and employee records as well as other pertinent forms.

—¦Reports any concerns of resident health and well-being immediately to Director.

—¦May perform some administrative office tasks as assigned by Wellness Program Director.

—¦Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.

—¦Abide by the standards and procedures of the Mennonite Village Compliance and Privacy Program and Values and Expectations Statement.

—¦Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.

—¦Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.

—¦Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.

—¦Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

—¦Supportive of Mennonite Village philosophy and mission.

—¦Bachelor degree in health or social services related field preferred.

—¦Two years experience working in long-term care preferred.

—¦Must be able to be approved by the Oregon Department of Human Services Background Check Unit to conduct background checks as a Qualified Entity Designee.

—¦Ability and willingness to work some weekend and evening hours when necessary.

—¦Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and resident confidentiality.

—¦Ability to work with and communicate with older adults.

—¦Ability to make decisions and work independently concerning all aspects of resident, staff, and visitor participation.

—¦Ability to compile, copy, sort and maintain accurate records of resident and volunteer activities.

—¦Proficient in the operation of office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers.

—¦Proficient in the operation of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

—¦Current CPR and AED certification or willingness and ability to obtain.

—¦Current CDL or willingness and ability to obtain.

—¦Current Food Handlers card or willingness and ability to obtain.

—¦Strong time management, follow through and organizational skills.

—¦Ability to maintain resident, volunteer and employee confidentiality.

—¦Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.

—¦Ability to communicate by phone.
