We are currently seeking experienced servers (2+ years), sushi chef (2+ year) and cook/dishwasher (2+ year) to join our team at Makoto.
We are looking to hire those who give their all (effort and sincerity) even with the smallest tasks. This is a fast paced environment so multi-taskers and fast learners are needed.
We strongly value a person's character and honesty, hence the name, Makoto, translates "sincerity" or "truth." Other traits we look in a person is commitment, drive/self-motivation, detail-orientedess, humbleness, reliableness, and cultural understanding.
Server applicants MUST have basic knowledge of sushi and have experience working at a Japanese restaurant. Food Handler's card and OLCC certificate are required. (You will also need to pass our menu test with a score of 100 before you begin serving here). The interview will be a two step process. Ideal applicants will have experience working in a busy, fast-paced, upscale, high-volume restaurant. This is not an easy serving job; it is only for those who possess good observation, prioritization skills, multi-tasking ability, speed, good interpersonal skills/customer service skills, ability to shift gears and stamina. Sushi chef applicants must have basic knife technique/skill, knowledge of sushi, and minimum of 2 year experience working as a sushi chef. You will need to be quick with your hands, possess some artistic/presentation skills, and be able to multi-task responsibilities during peak hours of restaurant.
