POSITION PURPOSE:
The Controls Programmer position is a key member of the operations team supporting programmable logic controllers within a manufacturing work environment. This person will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager and Operations Manager to ensure all systems are running at their peak within all manufacturing processes. This position requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, positive professional attitude, motivation and ability to work in a team environment with all levels of employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years of PLC experience
Deep understanding of PLC Programming ladder logic and all aspects of controls system
Excellent understanding of HMI programming and its interaction with PLC
Knowledge of how electrical/PLC circuitry interacts with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Basic electronics understanding
Knowledge of VFDs and ability to start up, tune and troubleshoot them
Axis tuning using QBs, RMCs, Servos and AB motion
Peripheral implementation: VFD and DC Drives, Analog & Digital Sensors and modules, Motion Control, HMI, SCADA and third-party devices
Basic understanding of Scanning and Optimization
Ability to work a flexible schedule
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Oregon Plant Manufacturing Electrical license
Previous capital project experience within a controls programmer/ engineer role or capacity
Advanced code experience including one or more of the following, Python, Java, C, C# or .net
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Position functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
PLC integration and programming
Enhancing and/or upgrading existing systems
Implementing new systems
Designing diagrams that could be read and utilized by the plant electricians
Performing efficiency testing to ensure all systems are running at their peak
Troubleshooting existing systems
Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mainly indoors, sometimes in the mill environment
