Key work will be: Cultivating positive customer relationships and acting as a high level customer interface for specific instruments/application issues, explain complete technology details, and givingin-depth technical presentations. Customer applications training and support providing unparalleled value, allowing users to obtain the best possible results and value from their instruments in the shortest possible time.How will you make an impact?The Applications Scientist in the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) applications team is responsible for providing technical expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Americas sales efforts at specific customer sites.What will you do?

Supporting and training customers after the sale and installation of the microscope. Customer training is primarily scheduled on-site on the customer’s instrument, but the candidate will support in-house training in the Hillsboro Nanoport as well.

Authoring and maintaining supporting training material.

Acting as a primary communication conduit to the factory by reporting engineering and production issues from the customer.

Solving and reporting software and hardware issues and customer concerns.

Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.

As your skills evolve, the candidate may participate in product demonstrations, development of new techniques and applications, support to Thermo Fisher Scientific marketing, and assisting with technical and applications expertise in all phases of the sales cycle.

How Will You Get Here?This position is ideal for an experienced technologist wanting to be involved with a diverse team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

Requires a University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics. An advanced degree is preferred.

Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with FIB-SEM is required.

Knowledge of advanced technology diagnostics as well as problem solving techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment; specifically electron/ion microscopes.

3 or more years of experience in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using DualBeam technology is preferred.

Excellent, interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

Works well with multi-functional and cross-cultural teams

Frequent traveling both domestically internationally (up to 50%), possession of a valid passport.
